Rufus pushed the doors of the shed all the way open and sat down right at the edge of the entrance, grinning like a fool as rain water rolled off the edge of the roof and splashed down on him. He pushed his journal back out of the way of water damage and wrapped his arms around his knees as he looked up and watched the water falling from the sky. He loved rain like this, not the harsh, freezing rain of winter that came with wind and thunder but the change of season rain. It had all the feeling of the cool autumn they were entering while still keeping that hint of the summer showers that were now gone.
Water hit the plants in the garden, beading up and rolling off the leaves as Rufus watched. When he heard the sound of the back door his smile perked up and he hopped to his bare feet. “Jules,” he called, hopping out of his semi-shelter and splashed into a puddle.
At Ruf’s invitation, Jules immediately dropped her journal and bounced off the bed. Dressed only in a long, flowy dress, Jules didn’t bother to put on shoes, just dashed out the back door and into the pouring rain. “Rufus!” Jules laughed and hopped, spinning across the muddy yard towards her friend.
“Took you long enough,” he teased, catching her as she spun into him. He shook his wet hair out of his eyes and took one of her hands as twirled her away and tugged her back.
“I had to get dressed,” Jules laughed, dancing with him through the mud, her hair plastered to her head. “Can’t dance in the rain in just anything, can we?”
“Yes!” Rufus nodded and grinned widely. “That’s one of the best parts of the rain.”
Her dress was loosing its flow, clinging to her more the wetter it got and she slipped in the mud as she spun, only her grip on Rufus keeping her from falling. “Gotta look good for you!” she told him, matching his grin.
“You always look good, Jules,” Rufus assured her as his arms went around her waist to support her. His shirt was clinging to him just like her dress and he tugged it off, his grin growing as he swung it around and let it fly off in the direction of the house. “See,” he said, holding his arms out as he stepped back to show off and spun around “Like I said, you can dance in anything!”
Laughing, Jules leaned forward and pressed a happy kiss to his lips, then danced away, across the yard, leaping over patch of daisies. “Maybe I should quit work and become a dancer!”
“I’d go watch you,” Rufus promised, hopping through the puddles as he followed her. “But I watched you at the florist too.” Splashing past the daisies, Rufus stooped, plucked one from the bunch and slipped it behind her ear, not caring if the rain was going to weigh it down in a few minutes.
Jules grinned and slung an arm over his shoulders, tugging him close and kissing him. “I’d watch you at work,” she promised, grabbing his hand and spinning then dipping him.
“You do watch me at work,” he pointed out as he held onto her for support before she lifted him back up. He pushed his hair out of his face and kissed her cheek, then her lips softly. “So I don’t think it counts.”
Draping her arm over his shoulders, Jules returned his kiss, hugging him tightly. “You don’t always watch me at work,” she grinned, pouncing him with a kiss before spinning away again. Her dress was weighing her down, not allowing her to move as freely as she liked, and she reached down, gripping fistfuls of the soaked fabric, tugging it over her head and tossing it towards the house.
Grinning, Rufus watched her spin away and tug off her dress. Tilting his head slightly, his smile grew and he walked up to give her a hug only to squeeze her tightly and lift her off the ground, carrying her across the garden.
“Ruf!” Jules giggled and clung to him for a moment before wriggling in his arms enough to wind her legs around his waist. “I thought we were going swimming!”
“We are,” he laughed, stepping carefully through the wet grass as he carried her toward the creek. He shifted his arms to hold her tightly, careful not to risk dropping her. Not before he could toss her in the water at any rate.
While she was in his arms, with nowhere else to go, Jules ducked her head and kissed along his neck, nibbling lightly at his skin for a moment before pulling back and grinning up at him. “You should carry me everywhere,” she declared.
“What if my arms get tired?” He asked, reminding himself not to close his eyes, no matter how good it felt.
“We’ll just leave early so you always have enough time to get me anywhere,” she told him, wriggling in his grasp. “Or you could carry me on your back. Like a monkey.”
Doing his best monkey impersonation, Rufus smiled and pecked her lips. “I’d make a good monkey,” he agreed as he stopped at the edge of the creek. “You wanted to swim?”
“I did! I always want to swim!” Jules hooted back at him, concentrating on her monkey noises and not the mischievous look in his eyes.
With another monkey noise, Rufus gave a nod and jumped off the edge with her, letting go only after they’d splashed into the water.
Letting out a happy shriek, Jules dove away from Rufus when he released her, surfacing after a moment and splashing towards him. “Ruf!” she sputtered, grinning.
Rufus popped out of the water right after her and shook his head, shaking the water from his face. “You said you wanted to swim!” He said in between laughs and reached out to splash her playfully. “I just wanted to help.”
“Help, yeah?” She challenged, laughing as she swam towards him, giving a jump and landing on his back in an attempt to dunk him under the water.
“What! I’m helpful!” As soon as she landed on his back he wrapped his arms around her legs, holding her to him and lifted his knees toward his chest, falling below the water and taking her with him, dunking them both.
Coming up sputtering, Jules laughed, swimming away from him. “You’re overly clothed, Rufus,” she told him, kicking up her feet and floating comfortably in the water. “Good thing I’m not self-conscious!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Rufus rolled his eyes and splashed her again before he started tugging his shorts off. “I had more important things to do. Like dunking you under the water.” Kicking out of them, Rufus turned and chucked the sodden shorts onto the ground nearby, giving a little bow when he turned back to her. “Thank goodness you reminded me Jules, would have been horrible if those got ruined.”
“Always looking out for you!” Jules twisted around in the water, swimming towards him and giving him a kiss, wrapping her legs around him. “It’s one of my many uses.”
“You’re so useful,” Rufus nodded, smiling as she pressed close. “Dunno what I’d do without you. It’s true.”
Winding her arms around his neck, Jules tugged idly at his hair, matching his grin. “Be sad,” she informed him. “And lonely!”
Making a face, Rufus squinched up his eyes and shook his head. “Sounds horrible!” Looking back at her he smiled and gave her another peck. “Lucky me,” he said and without warning dunked her again.
“Ruf!” Jules yelped, clinging to him as they came up, coughing and laughing. She yanked his hair, and raised up, pushing on his shoulders in an attempt to dunk him, without allowing him to pull her down with him.
“Wha-” Rufus started to say in mock protest before his head was forced under. He shot back out a moment later and spat out the mouthful of water he’d taken in. “I at least dunked both of us,” he pointed out, wiping off his face, even as rain water fell right down on it.
“This time,” Jules shot back, reaching out and cupping his face, tugging him close to kiss him deeply. She grinned widely, unable to keep a straight face as she quipped. “Go on, you can get me wet.”
Smiling at her, Rufus reached up and gently stroked her cheek, letting his fingers gently trace her jaw and back, tickling her neck as his hand slid around to hold the back of her head like he was going to guide her into a kiss. Instead he pushed her under, still laughing when she sprang back up. “You asked for it,” he said innocently shrugging as he leaned back til he was floating on the water, closing his eyes to keep the rain out.
Splashing him when she came back up, Jules coughed the water up, ducking under the water again to get her hair out of her face. “Jerk,” she grinned at him, swimming towards the large tree that overhung the creek and sliding back to float there, looking up at the sky, watching the rain hit the leaves above her.
The silence got Ruf’s attention after a minute or two and he moved, looking around for her. He smiled when he saw her floating under the tree, thinking how much she would have loved to be able to take a picture of herself if she could have seen it.
He swam over to her and looked up at the leaves to see what sort of view she had. “Getting dark,” he mused, not too concerned with the fading grey light. He looked back at her, his eyes running over his body and brushed his hand over her stomach, lightly tickling her side.
“Too bad the fireflies won’t come out with the rain,” she said, twisting towards his touch. She moved her head to look at him, smiling. Reaching up to him, her movement caused her to slip under the water again and she came up, draping her arms around his shoulders to hold herself up. “I love it here,” she said, idly kissing him.
Wrapping his arms around her, with no intention of dunking her this time-mostly no intention, he kissed her back gently. “It’s a good place,” he said, glancing back up at their tree cover.
“I’m so glad we found it,” she responded, moving against him and sliding her hands up his neck to tangle in his hair. “I can’t imagine living anywhere else.” She pulled back and flashed a smile at him. “Or with anyone else.”
“So don’t,” Rufus said softly. “I don’t want to live anywhere else, with anyone else, Merlin, I don’t even like thinking about it.” He smirked as he slid his hand up her back. “Too boring to think about.”
Leaning forward, Jules pressed a kiss to his lips. “You’re definitely not boring,” she smiled, ducking her head and nibbling along his neck.
His eyes slipping shut, Rufus’s head lolled to the side and he let out a soft sigh at the feeling of her teeth. “You’re very unboring too, you know,” he muttered, his hands dipping below the water as they ran lower down her back, curving over her arse.
“And I smell like honeysuckles,” Jules grinned against his skin, moving against him as she tickled her fingers against his skin. “Not every housemate smells like honeysuckles.”
Grinning, Rufus turned his head and pressed his face against her neck, inhaling deeply. He wasn’t at all surprised to smell honeysuckles and rain and he gently sucked on the spot before he move up to the her ear. “I love the smell of honeysuckles,” he said, giving her ear the same attention he’d given her neck.
Jules let out a low sigh at the feel of his lips against her ear. “Rufus,” she breathed, reaching between them and wrapping her fingers around him.
“Merlin,” Rufus moaned under his breath, one hand running up into her hair as he snogged her deeply, loving how she tasted almost as much as he loved her smell.
Tightening her grip on him, Jules moved against him, slipping slightly in the creek and laughing for only a moment before tugging him closer and kissing him, brushing back the wet strands of hair falling into his face.
Reaching between them, Rufus’s hand closer over her breast, squeezing it as he tried to support her with his other arm. Snogging her eagerly again he slipped this time and laughed. Wrapping both arms around her he guided them toward the bank and lifted her onto it, climbing out of the water next to her.
“Better?” He asked, flopping down beside her and pushed his wet hair from his face before he started kissing her again.
“The water’s fun too,” Jules answered, twisting against him onto her side and tugging him close. She reached over, digging her fingers into the mud and painting them along his back with a grin. “Dirtier here,” she added, kissing him.
“Can’t be tempted to dunk you here,” he pointed out, lifting a muddy hand and made a point to pat her cheek. “Here,” holding onto her, Rufus flipped them over abruptly, laughing at her reaction as he settled her on top of him. “Now it can’t hurt you,” he teased.
Matching his laugh, Jules wriggled comfortably on top of him, straddling him and moving against him with a little noise. “I’m not afraid of a little mud,” she grinned, proving her point by scooping up some more mud and daubing a star on his chest.
“Good,” Rufus grinned, glancing at his star before he pushed his hands into her hair and pulled her down for a deep snog, shifting his hips slightly as his body begged him for more than just laying so close together.
“Not afraid of anything,” Jules’ voice came out breathy as she moved with his tug, kissing him deeply and pressing her hips down against him. She grinned down at him, reaching down between them with her clean hand to wrap her fingers around him, leaving the other one in the mud to steady herself. “Not when you’re around.”
“Jules,” Ruf moaned, pressing his head back against the soft earth and his cock into her hand.
There were a lot of things Jules loved but high up on that list was the husky, lust-filled way that Rufus moaned her name when she had his cock in her hand or buried in her pussy. “Ruf,” she matched his groan, moving back and lowering herself down onto him with a gasp.
Rufus let out another, louder moan and lifted his head to look up at Jules with an eager expression. He reached out for her and teased her breasts for a moment before he tugged her for a kiss, rocking his hips so he could thrust into her as he held her.
Arching her back, Jules ground down against him before tipping forward and pressing her hands against his chest. “Rufus,” she groaned, running her thumb along his nipple.
Loving the feeling of the rain splashing down on them and the way Jules voice got all hoarse and husky, Rufus moaned. His hands ran down her back and gripped her hips, tugging them down as he thrust into her harder.
Jules let out a gasp, dropping down to snog him deeply, enjoying the feel of his fingers digging into her hips and the mud squishing under her knees as she thrust down against him. “Ruf,” she breathed, between kisses, sliding her fingers through his hair and tugging.
“Fuck, Jules,” he hissed, closing his eyes as he gasped and grabbed at her hips, trying to tug her closer as he thrust up to meet her rhythm and came. “Fuck,” he groaned again, pulling her back to him for another kiss.
“Rufus!” Pushing back from him, Jules thrust her head back as she came, instantly dropping back against him to snog him desperately. She grinned down at him, reaching over and daubing mud on his nose before kissing him again. “Love you,” she told him.
Smiling lazily, Rufus lifted his head and gave her a gentle kiss as he carefully ran a hand through the mud around them. “Love you, Jules,” he said, reaching up and running his hand down her face, leaving little trails of mud where his fingers had touched.
Jules looked down at him and grinned. “I like this look,” she said, sitting back slightly and using mud to draw patterns along his chest, little swoops and curlicues around his nipples. “I think we should do this all the time.”
“Play in the mud? The rain?” He asked drawing a smiley sun on her cheek. “Or have sex in them?”
“Both,” she laughed, ducking to kiss him again. “All three. But I meant the mud,” she clarified, drawing whiskers on his cheeks and laughing again.
“Mud’s easy enough to find. Or make,” he chuckled, tracing her collar bone with it. He raised up to kiss her forehead before drawing a heart there.
“I like it,” Jules said again, leaning back enough to draw wriggly lines down his chest before dropping to kiss him again. “Plus, isn’t it supposed to be good for you?”
“Maybe. Certainly can’t hurt,” he agreed, looking her over. He smiled as he took in her rumpled, messy appearance, her matted hair and the silly drawings on her. A drop of water fell from a tree and hit him right on the nose, pulling his attention up. He hadn’t even realised when it’d stopped raining. “I like that sort of sky,” he said, noting the warm, rosy colour that tinged the dark, night sky.
Sitting back, her knees digging into the mud, Jules reached out for him, trying to tug him into a sitting position. “Me too,” she murmured, idly moving against him. “I wish I could dye my hair that colour.”
Pushing himself up, Rufus put one hand behind him for support and ran the other one over her hair, twisting the strands lightly at the tips. “Why can’t you?” he asked, letting his hand wander freely as the spoke. He caressed her before he started drawing on her chest, writing her name and drawing a flower between her breasts. “I think it’d look good.”
Jules wrapped an arm around him to help him keep steady, loosing a little breath at the touch of his fingers. “Changes too much. It’s not orange but its not yellow... I don’t even know how I’d be able to recreate that colour,” she reached up and tugged at her soaking, mud streaked hair, grinning at him and ducking her head to kiss him. “I think I could pull off brunette, though, yeah?”
“I think you could pull off anything,” Rufus told her honestly as she pulled back from the kiss. His hand moved lower as he started to doodle on her stomach, unable to resist tickling her side lightly. Looking back up at the sky to see the dusty rose colour fading to the normal night sky, with only a couple stars starting to peek out, Rufus started drawing his own stars on her stomach.
Giggling at his touch, Jules wriggled against him. “You’re a bit biased, though,” she grinned, the tip of her tongue sticking out as she worked on daubing a dragon on his chest. “You’d never tell me I looked bad. Even if it was true.”
“I would too tell you...if you ever actually looked bad,” he assured her, connecting the lines of the constellation he’d just drawn on her. “I’d never lie to you. Not even about that.”
“I’m sure I don’t look all that good right now,” she responded, giggling and arching towards him. “Not conventionally, at any rate,” she finished, adding horns to his dragon.
Rufus shook his head and reached up with both muddy hands to cup her face, pulling her in for a gentle kiss. “You look beautiful,” he said simply, grinning at how messy she was as he looked her over.
Gripping his shoulders to steady herself, Jules left muddy hand prints on his skin and grinned widely. “I’ve looked better,” she shrugged and leaned forward to kiss him again, loving the feel of him against her, the heat of his body and the cool of the rain dripping from the trees above them.
“You’ve looked different,” he corrected, wrapping his arms around her and kissed her as he let himself fall back against the soft, wet ground.
Falling down with him, Jules snuggled up against him. “You know,” she said, slipping off him and settling beside him, curling around him. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Rufus rolled slightly, taking care not to dislodge her but still turned enough to face her. “It’s going to rain again,” he said, mostly responding to his own thought of how easily he could stay right where they were all night.
Jules leaned forward and pecked him on the lips, pouncing him with kisses. “It can wash us off,” she mused, a slight breeze raising gooseflesh along her skin.
“I can help wash you off,” Rufus assured her, his playful grin spreading across his face as he reached out to rub her arms.
“Or maybe,” Jules reluctantly pulled back from him, hopping to her feet and reaching for his hands to pull him up with her. “I could help you!”
“Yeah, sure,” Rufus chuckled as he took her hands, still thinking he could toss her in the creek once more before they went back inside, as long as he was the first to surprise her.
Tugging him up, Jules took a step back and launched herself back into the water, yanking Rufus with her, letting out a happy noise as they splashed into the creek.
Tumbling into the water beside her with a splash, Rufus laughed happily and splashed her as soon as they surfaced. “Thanks, Jules,” he said, smiling at the mud dripping out of her hair and into the creek. “Still got some on you though,” he said and splashed her again before he took a deep breath and ducked under the water to get clean.
He caught her around the waist while they were under and resurfaced beside her, chuckling as he picked a leaf from her hair. “Better,” he told her, kissing her cheek before he tugged her back to the bank, ready to snuggle and sleep.
