WHO: Carlos Reyes & Alex Udinov (TK Strand later)
WHEN: April 23 | Wed
WHERE: their apartment
WHAT: Carlos meets Alex
WARNINGS:non for now

Carlos had been in this place for a couple days now and he was starting to feel a little better. The questions in his head seemed to finally be settling. He was one that tended to overthink things too much. It could be annoying, he knew. But he couldn’t help it. It was part of who he was. But that was one thing that was great about TK. TK kept him grounded, balanced him out and helped him to stop overthinking things.

After spending a lot of alone time with TK, he was left alone in the apartment for the first time. He was in the kitchen checking out the food supply, seeing what they had and if he could make anything decent for dinner. They seemed well stocked. He was sitting at the kitchen island making note of what they had and coming up with ideas for meals when the door opened and a petite brown haired girl walked in. When he looked up and laid eyes on her he froze. The similarities were uncanny and had Carlos in shock. He knew their roommate looked like Iris but damn they were like identical twins. “Hi,” he said while staring.

"I don't think you're weird," Alex offered. "But even if you are, there's not really anything wrong with that." Everyone was weird in their own way, she supposed. So far she liked Carlos. And she'd already heard a lot about him from TK. Now they were reunited and Alex was thrilled for them.

Alex had a very dark and complicated history and she wasn't sure how much of it she felt comfortable sharing. Everyone at home knew a carefully crafted version of her story but very few knew everything. And here, some people knew because she'd been here before even though she couldn't remember. Alex didn't really like thinking about that too much though, it made her head hurt. There was nothing she could do about it so it seemed silly to focus much on it.

"Thanks," She said with a small smile when he said he respected that she was trying. "I made a promise to someone that I would find a way to get better and I want to make good on that here."

She thought about his question for a moment. There were so many things he never would guess about her but some of them, she didn't want to get into. Most of them...probably. At least not right now. She supposed if she woke up screaming and they were concerned at some point she'd have to tell them something. But she'd cross that bridge when they came to it.

"Well...I am pretty fluent in multiple languages. And though I don't sound like it, I'm Russian by birth." Alex told him. She'd worked very hard to lose her accent when she'd escaped Vlad.

Carlos's eyebrows lifted, clearly impressed, a slow smile spreading across his face. “Russian by birth and multilingual? Alright, you just raised the bar,” he said with a playful chuckle. “Guess that means I’ve gotta bring my A-game now.”

He leaned casually on the back of his chair, warmth in his tone. “I speak Spanish and English. Grew up speaking both regularly in the household. But I still think that’s nothing compared to Russian. That’s serious language cred.”

Then, a more sincere note crept into his voice, his eyes softening just a bit. “And I think it’s amazing that you’re honoring that promise. A lot of people say they want to get better. Actually doing it? That takes guts. And heart.”
