Summary: In the middle of a muggle university library, Justin gets caught doing something naughty.
Justin was tapping the pen against the notepad, looking down at the distinct lack of references he had for his assignment. It was due Tuesday, and between work on the weekend, and his sort-of-date with Susan tonight, he didn't know if he was going to be able to get it done.
More than once he'd thought about staying back late enough to try and do some... spells... on the library's catalogue to help cut down on his research, but it went against all that he believed in. When he went to Eton, and when he started his degree, he made a promise to only use magic in ways that wouldn't give him an unfair advantage over the other students.
But he was so behind, and he swore to himself it was only just the once. Heading to the card catalogues (the library still hadn't fully computerised its catalogue collection), he headed to the law section. His wand was in the pocket of his trousers, and he looked around again before slowly pulling it out. The spell he needed wasn't one he could do wandlessly (damn the fact he never got to study in his seventh year at Hogwarts).
He thought about the topic of his research and formed the words of the spell in his mind. Muttering the spell quietly, the cards flew out of the drawer and straight into his hand. The clattering of the drawers was a little louder than he expected, as was the shuffling of the paper. This was an old and staid library where the tiniest noise carried to every corner. Merlin, he hoped nobody had seen that.
But as he turned, his stomach dropped. Another student was looking at him. From the look on her face, she wasn't a Muggle seeing magic, and he could only guess she was aware of magic, or even a witch. Biting his lower lip, he didn't know what to say. "Oops," he said quietly, hoping she wasn't going to go running and screaming.
