Nico and Bella had both been right in the fact that their father had turned his attention to Bella once all of Nico’s ‘appointments’ were finished. Too bad Bella had chosen to be rebellious and ignore her father’s summons to come home from the lake house. She didn’t want to know what her father planned for her when she graduated from Hogwarts. Probably to become the wife to some old pureblood that would only want her to have his children. The thought made Bella sick and angry because she wanted to be so much more. Wanted to do so much more.
So she ignored her father’s summons until she got a message that said he would hurt Nico because of her insolence. That gained Bella’s attention and forced her to go home. She floo into the house around supper time and noticed something was off right away. No house elf greeted her and when she stepped into her father’s study she knew why. Her father was drinking and by the looks of it, a lot. The house elves knew better than to stay around when Valentino drank because he became violent. This time would be no different.
The father and daughter would share words, he demanded she come back to the house, and Bella refused. It escalated from there and before Bella knew what was happening, Valentino back handed her across the face. He wore gaudy rings which cut into Bella’s cheeks causing her to bleed as she fell to the floor. The smack seemed to come to a surprise to both of them because for a moment neither of them reacted before Bella scrambled to her feet and ran out the door as her father started to yell at her.
She continued to run right out of the house and down the street because there was no way she was going to stay in that house any longer than she had to. Bella ran and ran until her legs and lungs couldn’t take it anymore and when she finally stopped she found herself at a park. The side of her face throbbed, specially her cheek, as she found a secluded bench that was off of the walking path. She sat down just as the tears started causing the Ravenclaw to pull her knees up, wrapping her arms around them, and hid her face as she let herself cry.
