"That's why you rehearse though," Simon said. "And the chance that something could go wrong is generally part of the expectation for a live performance." That was probably the wrong thing to say he thought as soon as the words were out but it was true. No-one was perfect first time through. Even River who'd been so talented at everything had had to practice her dancing - at least for ballet, it had a lot to do with muscle memory. But even so he couldn't deny that that the audiences that they played to would laugh if someone took a spill but he didn't think they'd consider it to entirely spoil the show.
It turned out she wasn't injured though which was a relief. "No I don't think we have," he said "I'm Simon Tam," he said offering a hand to shake. "I seem to have met more customers than carnival folk," he admitted. "They have me selling tickets." Which really was a relief - Simon was well aware he'd be useless as a performer.
