Who: Oliver Queen and Open. Allison Argent
What: Oliver trying to figure things out. Much confusion. And angst.
Where: Outside his new digs.
When: Shortly after his arrival.
Rating: TBD.
Status: Incomplete/Ongoing.

1935.

He was in 1935.

And he couldn't help but believe because seconds before arriving he'd been in 2011, and was about to meet his maker thanks to an army of Kandorian super-soldiers that had him in their sights. He hadn't been afraid. He'd been fighting the battle for earth for so long and all of his reasons for fighting were gone anyway. He'd been ready for it to end.

And then he was here. And the sun was no longer red, but its usual yellow, and he was standing there silently, alone, staring up at it like he'd never seen it before. It had been so long since he'd seen anything other than a red sun, he'd almost forgotten what the actual sun looked like.

He'd barely heard Carl's spiel about glad to see him, welcome to the carnival, and get to work. He'd simply stared at the man until Carl had finally handed him some clothes and walked away. Oliver hadn't even spoken. He wasn't sure he could speak.

Allison was his roommate and his assistant in his act, she didn't even know his name. After finding out about him, passing the note to Lydia, since it was a free day she decided she should met her co-worker. "Hello," she said as she stepped around the trailer, her eyes were scanning him over.

She pulled her cardigan more around her and then extended her hand, "I'm Allison, your roommate and assistant for now." If he was horrible shot, she was going to have to change being the assistant, somehow. "How long have you been an archer?" she asked, not beating around the bush.

Oliver blinked a couple of times as she introduced herself. He had a roommate? And she was a teenage girl? He didn't really understand what was going on, and he probably should have paid more attention to Carl's monologue about the place.

He shifted his bow to his left hand and shook her hand, eying her uncertainly and wondering if this was all some big, weird dream. Or hell. Maybe it was the after life. Maybe he'd died. He'd read something about the brain releasing some kind of chemical that helped a person to not experience pain when they died. Maybe the Kandorians had killed him and this was...whatever the hell the afterlife really was.

"Oliver," he answered, feeling more than a little dazed. "And...since I was about five years old."

Suddenly Allison wished Lydia would appear, she was better in these kinds of situation the Allison was, but she had yet to arrive. "About the same for me," she admitted with a nod of her and offered a small smile. "I'm guessing by the way you are looking at me...you didn't know you had a roommate or an assistant?" She sighed in disbelief, she really hated this place.

"So...I guess I'll fill you in, we are in an act together," she told him, you will shoot things to impressed the paying people and I or whatever I'm holding will be the target." She looked at him to make sure he was following, "no offense, but I don't know you and I don't trust you, till I see how you handle yourself," her head nodded to the bow, "with the bow."

Lydia had been on edge, ever since Allison had passed her the first note. There was an archer here. They didn't know how good he would be. Allison's life could really be in jeopardy. Lydia didn't want anything to happen to her. And now that someone was filling the archer spot, it was a very real possibility. After gathering her thoughts, and trying to calm herself...Lydia headed off to see if Allison had found the guy yet. They were definitely going to need to have a chat with him, and maybe even a demonstration of his skill, far away from Allison's body.

As she walked towards the trailer she knew belonged to Allison and the archer, she could see them already outside talking. She quickened her pace to get over there, and in on the conversation. She wanted to know what this guy could do, before he started launching arrows at her best friend. Because there was no way that Lydia was going to watch Allison die here. No way in hell. He'd better not even injure her.

Finally she reached them, putting herself between Oliver and Allison, sort of awkwardly. "I'm Lydia Martin, Allison's best friend." She announced. "You must be the Archer. You'd better be really, really good."

Oliver couldn't really blame the girl for being wary. He was pretty damn wary himself. So far, this was the most bizarre afterlife he could ever imagine having. A carnival? Really? He hadn't even been that interested in carnivals as a kid. Maybe this was purgatory. Or hell, even. He didn't know.

But then the redhead pushed her way between the two of them and he drew in a breath. The afterlife was full of teenage girls. With a pang, he thought of Mia Dearden, his sidekick in training. Or at least she had been until the end of the world had descended on them and she'd been killed. He rubbed the back of his neck, taking a casual step back away from both of them.

"Nice to meet you, Ladies. I'm afraid I just got here and I'm still a little disoriented," he admitted, feeling overwhelmed.

"Um, Lydia," she said, looking at her best friend who was between her and Oliver, she had a smile on her face, she couldn't help it. Lydia was such a strong person, reminded her of her mother from time to time, the good side of her. "This is Oliver. Oliver, my best friend Lydia."

She stepped back, making room for Lydia. "Sorry for throwing this all at you, but they are going to make us perform as soon possible and honestly, I need to know I'm going to be okay."

"Hi Oliver." Lydia said, backing off, but only slightly. The Archer was finally here, and that could mean trouble for Allison. She was so worried about something happening to Allison. She hugged her quickly. She didn't know what to think. Clearly Oliver had just arrived and he didn't really know what was going on.

"And I need to know she's going to be okay too." Lydia pointed out. She didn't know what Oliver's ability was or any of that. She wanted to make sure that Allison was safe. That was her top priority. She was her best friend, and Lydia was so sick of finding bodies. And she definitely never wanted to find Allison's body.

"So how about you give us a little demonstration?"

He really wasn't sure what to make of the two teens, but it was pretty obvious that they were completely serious. They wanted a demonstration of his archery skills. This was really getting weird. And considering he'd just died, he wasn't sure what to do with the weirdness.

He looked between them and then shifted his bow. If it was a demonstration they wanted, he'd do it, even if he wasn't convinced any of this was real. It wasn't like he had anything left to lose. "All right." He looked around, his gaze landing on a low hanging branch of an old oak tree. He nodded toward it, then got into position, taking aim at one of the leaves. He let the arrow fly and watched as it snagged the leaf off the limb and pinned it to the trunk of the tree.

Oliver glanced at Allison and then at Lydia with raised eyebrows.

"Could be a lucky shot," Allison said with a impressed look on her face, she looked back at Lydia and mouthed wow. To be honest, she wasn't that master to pick a leaf out and tag it like that "One second," she moved beside the trailer, then pulled out a wooden plank, one of the ones she would have to stand in front of when he did his act.

She paused for moment, then looked at Lydia, "grab that thing for a pillow off a bed in the trailer, please." Allison flipped the board over, "I'm going to mark spots on the board with a rock, I need you to hit the marks. If you hit the pillow, it's yours and I get the whole one." Swiping up a rock she dug some marks in the back of the board. She felt bad for doing this with him, but she needed to know she would be safe. "Any questions?" she asked as she kept digging at the board.

Lydia had to admit that Oliver was way more accurate than she would have thought he'd be. It was a pretty good shot. And Allison probably couldn't even do the leaf thing. Lydia hadn't ever seen anything like that, except maybe in a movie or something. She stared in disbelief for a few seconds. But like Allison said, it could have just been a lucky shot. They needed more proof. Lydia needed to know that Allison wouldn't be in any danger from this guy.

She nodded, slipping inside the trailer to grab a pillow. "I can't believe you get a trailer and I have to sleep in a freaking tent." Lydia said, as she re-emerged from inside. This time and place was doing nothing for her hair. She was used to being a lot more primped than this. Now she felt dirty all the time. That wasn't really the issue right now, though. She looked at what Allison was doing. It was a good test. Hopefully Oliver was up to it.

"I hope you don't hit that pillow." She mused. "Probably wouldn't be as comfortable with holes in it."

A lucky shot? Really? He frowned, sighing softly as he watched the two of them scramble to get things and threaten his pillow. Good thing for him he had no intention of hitting it. "I think I've got it," he said wryly. Really, he understood their concern. He wouldn't want to just stand in front of someone shooting arrows right at him unless he was damn sure they were a good shot.

He glanced at Lydia sideways. "Don't worry. I won't hit it," he said with confidence. If there was one thing he had utter faith in himself over, it was his ability to hit a target with any bow and arrow he was given. It had been, after all, what had kept him alive on that island so many years ago. Archery had saved him in more ways than one, really.

"Let's get this over with then" she took the pillow from Lydia, smiling at her for the housing arrangement remark, Allison did luck out a bit in that department. "Shoot the corner" she held it up,"then aim for the marks on the board without hitting it."

It was a simple task and the first one will put her in the way of the arrow, but she wasn't scared.

Lydia knew they were probably driving Oliver kind of nuts right now, but they couldn't help it. Lydia needed to know that Allison would be okay. It had to be a guarantee. And so they needed to see what Oliver could do before they put on their little show. It was much safer this way. Lydia felt a little bad that they were bombarding Oliver with this when he'd just gotten here, but Allison's safety was very important. And if Oliver didn't hit the pillow, they'd probably have nothing to worry about.

Lydia was ready to watch this. And she thought Oliver would pass. He'd pinned a leaf to a tree. It wasn't just luck, she didn't feel that way. She had to be sure, though. They had to know that he was going to hit the targets and not the pillow, and therefore not Allison.
