aidan gallagher; the umbrella academy season 2 (+2,287)

AIDAN GALLAGHER AS NUMBER FIVE IN THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2

2, 287 CAPS, PART 1 (493), PART 2 (484), PART 3 (462), PART 4 (438), PART 5 (410)

My angry murder child is back! I love him so much. Although if they're planning on multiple more seasons, they might have to accept he's getting older and have Five age up a little too!

Yeah they did a good job with shooting him so he mostly looks the same, but I'm pretty sure they had to do some tricks because he's taller and he doesn't look 13. I think we'd all roll with a simple explanation with time travel or whatever. We already roll our eyes about 26 year olds playing 16 years olds, but it's definitely different if a character is 13 because that's supposed to be pre-pubescent. They have a chill fandom though. We'll understand! Just time yadda yadda it.

He was leaning a LOT in scenes, and I was like, "It's cause he grew like a few inches, isn't it?" And even THAT I can handwave as "time travel's complicated and does weird things to your body and he already done goofed a few times so he might have again". I think all they have to do is go "wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff," and the fandom would go, "This tracks." I think the fandom finds it far harder to believe not one of them slipped in the bowling alley on the lanes in bowling shoes than just about anything else in the show lmaoo Even a kid bumming alcohol and hanging out in a night club is more "seems legit" than all of them running perfect down down bowling lanes in bowling shoes lol

LOL TRUTH. And tbf we've all seen what happens when you cast kids and know how it has to shift for that. If you don't have a plan than LOST happens and you're like oh fuck have to write the kid off. I'm sure this is something they have considered. Especially with in this season him learning more about how to "slowly" move through time rather than jumping entire decades. Maybe he just experiments on himself and ages to 18. easy peasy.

That and the equations are exactly what I thought about in terms of "LOOK HE GOT OLDER". Five just thinks he got the equations right and maybe he did. Maybe he did't. But he can also slip through time a bit more easily. Maybe tries to work on "fixing" his body or it's otherwise waved off as him messing around to learn more. In the process he's like, "Well, guess who's functionally immortal! No, not you, Klaus. Shut up." Bing bang boom it's all done.

But agreed. This isn't something they can't have thought about knowing that, if nothing else, the comics are going to be 8 volumes long, so Netflix is likely to greenlight more than one or two seasons. They already planted the "I'll give you the right math" thing. So it's there. In their minds.
