Offering Comfort
Who: Neely and Rachelle, feat. Bastian
Where: The apartment above Avarice
When: Sunday, January 2nd (directly after this scene, it also leads into this one, with a brief appearance by Neely)
Maddie had left almost an hour ago. Rachelle figured the tears would have run out by now, but the well had yet to dry up. She was still laying on the sofa, crying her eyes out.
Neely had been at the record store for the last few hours, finalizing some payroll details for a new employee, which was why she entered the apartment in jeans, a dress shirt, a tie and a vest, looking moderately respectable. As soon as she walked in and heard the sobbing, she immediately thought of Lucy Van Warren and quickly rushed to the source of the sound. "Baby? What happened?"
"M-Maddie... isn't gon' be my friend anymore..." She sobbed, as honestly? It sounded so childish that it would have been funny if not so heartbreaking.
"What do you mean?" Neely laughed weakly, sitting beside Rachelle awkwardly and stroking a hand through her hair. "Why?"
"Well... Face it, you've known for ages that we had feelings for each other." She whimpered, nuzzling the blonde. "She said she loved me more than Gunn. Problem was... I love YOU more than anyone else. And she can't be around me if I don't feel the same as she does."
"Oh," Neely murmured, still stroking a hand soothingly through Rachelle's hair. "That's kind of sad." She remembered something and tried to add a little levity: "I guess you can't help that you're so fuckin' irresistible."
"I love you, baby..." Chelle said with a weak smile. "Please don't ever leave me? I mean, I finally trust you enough to actually let us play a little... Don't ever crap on that? Without you.. I'd be lost."
"Hey," Neely cooed. "I told you about what Candi did to my ass as soon as I could walk again and you KNOW unless I get express permission, I'm not gonna touch." She leaned down and kissed 'Chelle tenderly. "I love you too much to hurt you again."
"I'm gonna miss Maddie. She and Skylar were my best friends..." She sighed, feeling bad for HAVING those feelings for Maddie, but never about to lie about them.
"I'm sorry, baby..." Neely wiped the tears from Rachelle's cheeks with her fingers. "I hope, maybe, one day she'll come around, but until then, or until you... find a new friend, I don't want you to wallow."
"Not many people really LIKE me..." She said, realizing that even the cute blonde high-school girl she'd met at Avarice had never chatted her up again.
"Bullshit. Baily likes you. Hell, I'm sure in her own twisted way even GWEN likes you. And don't even get me started on Patience, because I've SEEN her checking you out, and that's just borderline incest for my tastes..." Okay, so she was trying to cheer Rachelle up. Leave her alone, okay?
"...I'd do the WORST, most obscene shit to Patience." Chelle admitted with a weak laugh. "Is it wrong that I kinda wanna sic your family on Gunn?"
Neely just rolled her eyes to the start of Rachelle's statement and did her best to ignore it, since nothing good could come of it. "Depends on your motivation, I guess."
"Because I want her to be ours." She admitted, sighing. "Any chance I could use one of MY 'free ass' cards on Patience?"
"Well, I think that'll exacerbate the problem, don't you?" She soothingly brushed a hand through Rachelle's hair. "...Patience? Really?"
"Yes. She's hot as BALLS." Wonderful, Rachelle.
"If she goes for it, fine. I'd prefer it if you found some other hot piece of ass though, if the opportunity presents itself." Ah, they were a lovely couple, weren't they?
"Ask her, Riker. MAKE IT SO." Oh god, the dork. At least she was cheering up...
"Oh god. You know something's wrong with the world when *I* get that reference..." Neely muttered before flailing cutely. "Fine! But don't say that I don't do anything for you." She smacked 'Chelle on the ass.
"I'd never say that. And baby? So you know... I get it now." She smiled sadly. "The whole thing where you loved Meeghan... you just loved me MORE. I'm sorry I ever doubted you."
"Of course I do." Neely cooed, trailing her fingers down Chelle's back. "I don't think that I could love anyone more than you."
"Never? Because... remember when we met? And I said I didn't like relationships? I kinda lied." Awwr.
"Oh reeeeeally?" Neely asked with that infamous arched eyebrow.
"Yeah. From the MOMENT we met, I knew you were the only one for me. I've loved you from that first day." Ohmygod. Was this really Rachelle?
"Well, aren't you just a sweetheart?" Neely purred, leaning down to give Rachelle a long, passionate kiss.
Before they could get any further, however, there was a knock at the door and Neely went over to open it. On the other side stood Bastian, a duffle bag in her hands and a blank expression on her face. "Hi."
"Oh shit." Chelle said without really thinking. "...am I gonna have to throw down with Gregory again?"
"No," Bastian replied blankly. "She had to go away for a while... I didn't want to stay at the apartment alone."
"Baby... You're ALWAYS welcome here." Chelle replied without a second thought, hopping up and pushing her own misery aside for her 'daughter'. "C'mere..."
Bastian whimpered, actually trembling with raw human emotion. Inexplicably, a glass on the table shattered. Ignoring it, she dropped her bag and moved over to hug Rachelle tightly. "I--I'm sorry."
Chelle gave Neely a sharp look that said "I'll handle this", and hugged the girl tightly. "Baby... What happened?"
Neely nodded and moved off to rattle around in the kitchen.
"S-She just said that she needed to go away for a while. And I'm... scared that she won't come back. O-or that she'll find..." someone else. She couldn't say it. She whined again, frustrated with how much emotion she was showing here.
"If she has a brain in her head she'll be back for you." Chelle soothed the girl, stroking her long blonde hair softly. "You wanna talk about it, sweetie? I'm here for you..."
"N-no. I mostly want to curl into a ball and cry," she admitted, before wiping a thumb across Rachelle's cheek. "We can watch sport, if you want? Watching you yell about things you can't control usually cheers me up."
"Cheeky bitch..." Rachelle laughed playfully, smooching the girl on the cheek. "I'll put SportsCenter on. If nothing else, we'll see some Ravens highlights and you can hear me yell about how I wish them all death."
"That sounds good to me," Bastian replied, offering Rachelle a tiny smile. Keep in mind, other than Meeghan, Bastian only ever really emoted around Rachelle. And even then, only sparingly.
"You're always welcome here, baby girl." Awwr. Somehow, Bastian in particular brought out Chelle's more... maternal side. "I love ya. Even if you ARE gorgeous enough to make me jealous CONSTANTLY."
Bastian rolled her eyes. "Blake says the same thing. ... Usually there are more expletives, though." Luckily, Bastian found it all amusing, hm? "I... love you, too." Ah, it seemed that Bastian had inherited Neely's trouble in saying the 'L' word, huh? "Thank you for putting up with me."
"Psssh. If I can put up with Neely's ass, I can put up with anyone. Now relax. And welcome home... ya fuckin' goober." Yep. Typical Chelle, hmm?
Bastian just gave Rachelle a look then, but damn if a small smile didn't break out eventually.
"What about my ass?" Neely asked, peering around a doorway.
"NO, Neely, I wasn't talking about you and Candi..." Oh good lord, Rachelle...
One of Bastian's eyebrows arched, "I'm... going to figure out which channel is SportsCenter..." Yeah. Clearly she didn't inherit Rachelle's love of sport.
Neely moved over to Rachelle and smirked, "So. You and me later? I'll make you forget allll about how horrible today was. Promise."
"Promise?" Chelle asked with an excited grin, knowing that tone. "Gonna make ME scream this time? Because I loooved that story you told me." Jesus Christ. Clearly, Bastian was in for some traumatic times.
Luckily, Bastian had sense enough to buy noise canceling headphones this time, huh? Neely grinned wickedly and smacked 'Chelle's ass. "Is that so?"
"It is. So be prepared to spend DAYS cheering me up." And because Chelle was a bitch like that? "And remember: your friend. Want."
"Days? I can handle days." Neely laughed, nipping 'Chelle's shoulder. "How can I forget when you're constantly reminding me?"
"What can I say? When I want somethin' I can be a persistant bitch." Chelle grinned wickedly. "Remember how I was when I was trying to get you to date me?"
"God, that was hot. How you put up with my stubborn ass, I'll never know." She gave Rachelle a longing, vulnerable kiss on the lips. Groaning when the phone rang, she answered it and spoke to the person on the other end for a few minutes before hanging up. "Okay, so. That was Patience. I'm meeting her downstairs in a bit. I'll tell her what you said, but: tonight? You're all mine."
"All yours." Rachelle said, knowing Neely would get the double meaning there. She did love Maddie... but her heart and soul belonged entirely to the blonde beside her.
D'aw. If that wasn't the sweetest thing ever. Neely wrapped her arms around Rachelle and kissed her again. "Good."
