Making Things Right For Them
Who Pat and Baily
When: Saturday Night, 11/13, Just after this scene
Where: Avarice, Ben's Office
Tonight, Pat was spending the evening in Ben's office at Avarice, going over photos of the girls Ben, Jack, and Meredith had picked out for this... dating show thing he'd somehow let them talk him into. Luckily, the nanny had agreed to be live-in, so that he was able to take care of any business-related things without worrying about being out too late. And if nothing else? He had to admit... Ben, Jack, and Mere had GOOD taste in women. Damn.
As soon as Baily had gotten done talking with Ben, she went over to Avarice where he had told her Pat would be at, looking over the pictures of the girls that they had put on the show, which had Baily kind of freaked out. Would he want to go on the show now that he had seen all the hot girls that Ben, Jack, and Mere had obviously found? Nervously, which wasn't like her at all, she knocked on the office door.
"Yeah?" Pat responded, not even looking up at who was there, figuring Ben had come to check on him or something. And well now. He had to admit... that Lacey chick? NICE.
Baily opened the door and walked inside. "Pat?" she asked, sitting down in front of the desk. "Can we talk?"
"Baily?" He asked, blinking a bit, as honestly, she was the LAST person he expected to see tonight. "Yeah, of course. I was just looking over the details for this show you guys wanted me to do."
"Yeah...kind of what I wanted to see you about, actually," she admitted. "At first, I was just going to force Ben to put me on the show so that I could 'compete' or whatever, but then he brought up the idea that you just...don't have to do it." She looked at the floor. "I'm not like...gonna force you to quit it or anything if you want to do it. Just...I kind of want to cut any bitch that looks at you the wrong way, you know?"
He listened to her, nodding as he tried to comprehend her slight babble. "So... wait. You really think about me THAT much already? I mean... you're not always the easiest person to read... and you were gonna go ON the show? Seriously?"
Baily doesn't usually babble, so she kind of sucks at it, OK? "No, I've made a complete jackass of myself in front of Ben for the hell of it," Baily said, deadpan. "Yeah, I was going to go on the show and everything."
"Jesus... Baily... I mean, YOU'RE the one who said you wanted me to 'sow my wild oats' or whatever..." He snickered, trying not to flat out laugh though, for fear of frustrating her.
"Yeah well...if it was just that, I wouldn't be so worried, but they might have let a decent girl or two slip in between all the crack hoes," Baily pointed out. "Probably not on purpose or anything, but statistics are against me on that one."
"Well... most of the ones they picked aren't really my type anyway..." He said, looking through the pics again... but notice how he said 'MOST'.
"Yeah well, I heard mention of a very hot red head," Baily said bluntly. "Like I said, not gonna force you to do shit here. Just...if you do it, I'm gonna be on there, fighting for you amongst the skanks, OK?"
"Baily... despite the reputation I got... I'm not much of one to want those kind of girls." He sighed, shaking his head. "I won't lie... Lacey, Faith, and Eve are all... wow. GORGEOUS... but here's how it is with me. And I'm gonna give you the straight truth here."
She nodded. She just prayed that it was what she wanted to hear, honestly.
"I know you worry about being... another Iris. But what you don't understand is that... things are different this time." He sighed, trying to find the words. "That time... Patience was taken from me. She'd been killed. I was grieving. I wasn't ready to move on and I didn't WANT to. I just... needed someone. This time... she left me. It was a conscious decision on her part. And while it hurts like hell.... it's different. I *need* to move on. But I need you, or WHOEVER, to understand that there's a part of me, a BIG part... that will always love her. That will never be OVER her... but I'm also not a fool. I'm not about to go chasing after someone who left our CHILD behind... who cast aside our marriage so easily... will I always love her? Yes. Undoubtedly. But will I take her back? Doubtful."
"I'm not worried about that," Baily said to him. "She's your first love. You never quite get over those if you're not with them forever. I'm not asking you to." She finally looked up at him. "I just want to know that you want me for me, not because you don't want to be alone. That's all."
"Baily..." Pat sighed, shaking his head a little, "Trust me when I say that if all I wanted was to... not be alone... there's countless girls out there who want to just have freaky, kinky sex with no strings attached. I didn't expect to want to be with you as badly as I do. Hell, I don't even know if it's FAIR to you to be with you. Mostly because I'm not entirely sure my heart's ever gonna let me love anyone again, not in the way I WANT to be able to love someone. But I guess what I'm saying is... if you really want to try something with me... and if you're willing to accept my son as part of your life too..." and he didn't mean that in a shitty way... he knew Baily was young, and might not be ready to accept something like that, "Then I want to TRY. I'll gladly tell Ben to get someone else. Even if Jack will likely pout for a week."
"Aw to hell with Jack," Baily said, finally smiling at him. "Look, I have no problem accepting your kids," she told him. "All I'm looking for is for us to try. We can take this as slow as you'd like. I'm not exactly looking for a ring or anything right now." Baily was almost commitment shy, after all. "And you don't know what's going to happen in the future, after all. Time heals a lot."
"I'll call Ben later then. Tell him it's off." Pat grabbed her quickly, as if just thrilled that she was done trying to stay away from him. "I missed you.... I just... I missed just being around you."
She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. "I wish you had said something. I mean, I may have come to my senses sooner if you had maybe." Probably not. But maybe.
"You know there's nothing I could have said then." He stated simply, before deciding to just... lighten the situation a little. "You know... Ben doesn't have to be the ONLY Bale to defile this office..." Oh dear... think someone was already getting a little bit hooked on the girl?
"Doesn't mean I can't wish it," she pointed out to him. She gave him an evil grin. "You know...I was thinking the same thing myself." She was probably the only Bale who hadn't defiled this place somehow...
"So... you're mine, then?" He asked, holding her small body against his chest, wrapping his arms around her. Ok, so he was already thinking about tearin' her UP again... but he was trying to be loving here, ok?
She nodded. "Yeah, I'm yours," she said to him, turning around and pushing all the random papers and shit off Ben's desk. "Now let's horrify Ben for a change, hm?"
