Ooh! A Date!
Who: Henry and Mac
Where: Regan High School
When: Sept. 9th, Afternoon
School had just let out for the day, and Henry was gathering his books from his locker. He was hoping to see Mac before he headed out. They had managed to talk several more times since their first real meeting, and he (when he was feeling optimistic) might even count her among the friend types, but he was hoping for something a little more. He just thought that she was SO pretty, but had absolutely no idea how to ask a person out, considering that, for most of his life, he had went to an all boys school. Plus, just the general shyness that made it so that he had a hard time talking to anyone. However, because, when they did talk, it went so well, he was hoping to try and ask her to the Back to School Dance that was happening at the end of the month. Maybe he'd get the courage to before the dance actually happened.
Mac reached her locker, which was next to Henry's, a moment after the boy had gotten to his. The dreamwalker cast him a small smile with a tuck of hair behind her ear before opening her locker to gather the other books she'd be needing for homework assigned in her earlier classes. "Glad school's out for the day?" Mac asked of Henry with the closing of her locker.
He smiled at her and nodded. "Very glad." Seemed like Regan High Schools' resident jock population liked to annoy anyone that wasn't them. Henry didn't get it too badly. Just occasionally got his books knocked out of his hands or something like that. Considering how bad he had seen them be to *some* kids, he was willing to deal. Maybe his senior status plus the fact that many didn't know him helped him out a lot in that area. "What about you?"
"It's what I look forward to each day." She answered back. The general conversations they had when meeting at their lockers was something Mac had grown accustomed to. The passage of days since they first officially met made it easier for her to talk to Henry without feeling all that awkward or nervous. Mac now considered Henry one of the very few school friends she had.
The end of the day was what he looked forward to as well. He actually truly enjoyed their conversations with one another. "So, what are your plans for after school today?"
"The norm. Go home and get to today's assignments." It was pretty much a routine for Mac once school let out to head home to the beach house and work on the days assignments. Such the boring life the girl led.
"Sounds about like what I'm going to do," he said. Well, unless he actually got the courage to ask her out for the weekend or something. "Hey, do you go to that club Avarice a lot?"
"Sometimes." Mac answered slinging the strap of her backpack on her shoulder. "Mostly when Brayden goes to the club. His family owns the place." The ebony haired teen told him. Avarice wasn't exactly her kind of scene, which was why she rarely went there alone.
He nodded. She had talked about Brayden a few times. Henry was relieved that Mac had also mentioned Brayden's girlfriend once or twice as well. So, no competition there. "Well, I was just wondering if...you know...if you'd like to go out with me somewhere like that." He stared down at his feet for a moment.
"You're inviting me to go to Avarice with you sometime?" The girl questioned back almost in disbelief as she looked at him. And it wasn't in a bad way, Mac was actually flattered that Henry was actually asking her out. She had started to think that all the boy wanted from her was a friendship.
"Well, Avarice...or wherever you want to go really," Henry said, getting the courage to actually look back up at her. "So, what do you think?"
"I think I would like to." Mac said smiling warmly when Henry finally glanced back up her way.
He couldn't help but break into a wide grin when she said that. "Wait...really?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Her smile faltering slightly then.
He shrugged. "I don't know, because you're a pretty girl who could probably have much more popular guys asking her out?"
"That hasn't happened since I started attending Regan High. Besides, there are way prettier girls who the popular guys would rather ask out." Mac replied softly. "Besides even if one of them did I'd have to decline because I much rather go with my friend." Her warm smile returned to soft radiant her features. Henry was her friend now, though with him having asked her out that might change the level of their current relationship.
He smiled wide when she said that she'd rather go out with her friend. "Great," he said. "Are you free on Saturday night?"
"Yes." Mac answered without a thought. Even if she weren't the girl would have changed her plans so she could go out with Henry. The dreamwalker could barely contain the thrilled feeling that rushed through her now at the prospect of having an actual date come Saturday like most girls her age.
"Great. I can pick you up at seven if that's good for you." He'd be borrowing his parents car for this, but they'd probably all but throw the keys at him when they found out that he had a date.
"Seven sounds good." She agreed. With this being her first official date Mac had the feeling she'd have to either seek out Meredith or Mouse to help her put together an outfit appropriate enough to wear on a date. Not that her wardrobe was filled with going out clothes.
"Great," Henry said to her. "Just give me directions to your place and I'll pick you up at seven on Saturday."
"Okay." Mac then started giving the boy directions to the beach house while she unzipped a side pocket of her backpack and took out a pen and some paper to write down her number. "In case you get lost on the way," which she didn't think he would, "or even if you don't find yourself getting lost." The teen smiled a bit shyly as she offered her phone number to the boy.
He smiled at her. "I'll make sure to call," he said to her. He couldn't believe this. An actual date. With a girl even! Talk about unexpected.
