First Meeting
Who: Mac and Henry
Where Reagan High
When Monday Morning - August 23
Dropped off in front of the school by Brayden, Mac stood looking up at the structure a moment by forcing herself to move forward and climb the steps up to a set of double doors. The teen was trying to go by the words of Meredith and pushed herself to think that this year would be better then her last at the high school. Weaving her way through the mass of other teens, Mac entered the building and then started working her way toward her locker.
Henry himself was new to the school. He had gone to an all boys school up until this point, when his parents realized just how stunted of social abilities he had by doing such, and promptly sent him to a public school. So, of course, he was completely terrified of the hordes of people that were all around him. Right now he was just trying to keep to himself so that he could survive the first day in one piece. That was the plan, at any rate. Then he looked over and realized that his locker mate, if he was correct, would be the girl that he had seen at the Sugar Shack and got caught staring at.
Mac had just gotten her locker open and was just unzipping her backpack when someone walked up to the locker next to hers. With the door blocking her view the girl didn't bother glance over as she transfered some of the books from her pack into her locker. Though when she shut the door the teen was surprised to find herself looking, well actually staring, into the face of the boy she and Meredith had seen at Clhoe's Sugar Shack. The one who had kept looking over their way. Biting at the edge of her lower lip a bit nervously, Mac couldn't quite bring herself to speak the simple greeting of 'hi' to the boy.
Luckily, Henry found his voice before his reflex to run away kicked in. "Um...hi," he said to her softly. He wasn't even sure if his voice would be able to be heard over the different kids running around in the hallway.
"Hi." Mac returned shyly with a nervous tuck of hair behind her ear as the teen forced herself not to glance down and away from the boy. With her luck he would walk off before she looked back up. "I.... I'm Mackenzie." The girl managed to murmur out softly before getting all tongue tied and not knowing what else to say.
"I'm Henry," he said back to her, giving her a slight smile. "I...I'm new here, actually. I just transferred from St. Peter's School." He hoped that he wasn't babbling and scaring her off.
Mac smiled softly at his revelation. No wonder she hadn't remembered seeing him around before. And it was a bit of a relief to the dreamwalker as his being new to Regan High he wouldn't know anything about her. At least she was hoping that would be the case. "Welcome to Regan High." Mac said feeling her heart go all a flutter. It might be a lame thing to say, but at least Mac was trying to be sociable and not trying to locate the quickest route to use to get away from the boy.
"Thanks," he said to her. Well, she was smiling, that had to be a good sign. "So, um...how is this school? Is it OK?"
"It's alright I suppose." She answered softly as once again Mac nervously curled hair behind her ear. She had, after all, managed to survive through the last few months of the last school year. Which was mostly thanks to Brayden.
He nodded when she said that it was alright. "Um...what year are you?" he asked. They looked like they would be the same age, but he wasn't sure if she was a year older than him or what.
"This will be my final year at Regan High." And in Mac's opinion the school year wouldn't pass quick enough for her. "Are you a senior too?" She inquired as the boy did look to be her age. If he was maybe they would have classes together. A thought that made Mac blush lightly and glance down at her feet. Seeing the boy everyday would be nice, but also loads of awkward thrown in.
He nodded. He was actually a senior, too, which was what made transferring all the harder. "Yes, I am, too," he said to her. So, maybe they would have a class together or something like that.
Mac just smiled then finding herself with a lack of what more to say. Fidgeting a bit the teen readjusted the strap of her backpack at her shoulder.
He actually stood there for a moment before thinking of something else to say. "So...what classes are you taking? Maybe we share a couple."
"US History, Marine Science, Sign Language, Algebra and English Lit." Mac told Henry. With them both being seniors there was a good possibility that they would share more then one class.
"I'm taking a couple of those myself," he said to her. "English Lit and US History." He was in a couple of different ones as well, including Band.
Anything that Mac might have been about to say died on her tongue when the first bell of the school day rang. "Maybe I'll see you in one of the classes?" Mac fidgeted on her feet once more as she know she needed to make her way to her first class of the day, but for some reason the teen was reluctant to leave Henry's company at that moment.
He inwardly groaned when the first bell rang. "Yeah, hopefully," he said, giving her a smile as he shut his locker. "See you around."
"See you later." Mac offered in response. Giving one last smile the teen finally turned away from Henry to head off to her first class of the day.
