Even Brayden has a heart, it seems...
Who: Mac and Brayden
Where: Avarice
When: Sunday Evening - August 1
Mac was sitting at one of the VIP tables inside the club sipping her glass of soda as her gaze fluttered around the interior while she waited for Brayden to arrive. Those dark eyes of her halted suddenly on a guy who seemed to have suddenly appeared at the table. When she glanced up the teen caught the charming smile the guy gave her, which was followed by him trying to coax her away from the table and out onto the dance floor.
"I'm waiting for someone." Mac tried informing the guy who wasn't about to take a no for an answer. "It'll be just once dance, beautiful." And being the insistent ass he appeared to be the guy made a move to grab Mac by the arm to take her out on the dance floor. A move that had the teen trying to jerk her arm away from his grasp.
Well. Apparently the guy didn't realize just WHO he was fucking with. Just then, they heard an animalistic growl behind them, followed by Brayden spinning him around, and twisting his arm behind him fast and hard enough to hear a sick snap. "You do not TOUCH her, you son of a bitch..." The man shrieked, as Brayden threw him toward the door, sneering. "You ever come near this place again and I swear I will kill you." Was he overreacting a little? Possibly... But he loved Mac. Turning to the girl, he cupped her chin and looked into her eyes. "You alright, sweetie?"
Mac had only been slightly filled with worry during the bit of an altercation with the stranger. Surely if he had continued to try and drag her out onto the floor someone would have intervened on her behalf. Wasn't the first time she had come to the club, and it usually was in Brayden's company. So the regulars and employees knew of her connection to the young Bale. But seeing the way Brayden reacted in an animalistic manner to the guy frightened Mac to a degree. She had never witnessed this side of her best friend. The teens first response was to meet his gaze with wide eyes and a simple nod until she was able to find a bit of her voice. "Yes, I'm fine." The dark haired girl managed to get out.
"Sorry to be so... Aggressive. But nobody gets to mess with you. Not while I live." Oh god. How sweet, in a scary way, that he adored her so much? "So... Wow. Ok, maybe not the best time now, but I kind of wanted to ask you something."
"It just surprised me." Mac admitted allowing herself to slowly relax in Brayden's presence. "I was wanting to talk to you too. So maybe now is the best time." The teen smiled softly to the lycan.
"So, I've been thinking a lot about what I want for my future. I got a great home now, my band's coming together, I have a fucking great girlfriend, and a best friend who I love dearly." Here we have it: the most honest, sincere, and sweet Brayden had ever likely been. "Now I want it all to come together. I know you've been staying with me... But I want to make it permanent. And with your permission, I'd like to ask Meredith to move in with us. You're the two most special women in my life... and I want you both living with me. Always."
"Are you sure?" The teen questioned. "I mean it might get a little awkward at times." Mac added with a slight blush that colored her cheeks before quickly taking a sip of her soda. She knew they did it, but that was probably the one thing her and Brayden never talked about. So it felt kind of awkward to Mac to even make slight mention of it. If Meredith moved into the beach house Mac felt she might find herself being the proverbial third wheel.
"Dude. Of course I'm sure. You're an awesome roommate. And Mere likes you too. And I'm way too protective of you to have you living somewhere else. I'd go nuts." Again... how uncommonly sweet for him, hm? "It's a nice sized place, after all. Not like there isn't enough room for each of us to have privacy."
"If the place would ever become not big enough promise me you'll say so." Not that she'd know where she would go, Mac would just have to think about that if the time ever came. "And I like Meredith too. She's nice."
"Mac? I swear to you... if for SOME reason you ever start to be any kind of burden, I'd tell you. But you won't. I kinda love you, ya doofus." Kind of funny considering the beginning their friendship had, hm? "And anytime you want to use the place for yourself... whether you wanna have some kinda party, or bring someone home and get yer groove on... you let me know and me and Mere will go out."
"Like that will ever happen." Mac actually snorted lightly with a roll of her eyes at the notion. Having the couple friends she now found herself with over to the beach house was one thing. It could happen. Bringing someone home for something more intimate? Mac still wasn't allowing herself to think that possibility even existed.
"Hey... stranger things have happened. Would you believe I once went two whole weeks without getting laid at ALL?" He asked as if this was honestly some major catastrophe. "Like I said... ANYTHING can happen."
"And you didn't get struck by lightning or have the world come crashing down on top of you?" Mac teased her friend. If it were true then that was the strangest thing Mac had ever heard of happening. Brayden lasting two whole weeks without any sex.
"You know? I thought the SAME THING. I was sure the end was nigh." He grinned with that damnable smirk that showed that he was only half-joking there. "So... just so I know: you're cool with me, you, and Mere being one little happy, dysfunctional family? Because I'm seriously ecstatic about this."
"How could I deny you your happiness, Brayden Bale." And as long as she didn't have to constantly listen to the noises coming from their room or witness either walking around the beach house in their birthday suits, Mac felt she'd be alright with the situation. She loved Brayden dearly and did actually like Meredith, so why shouldn't they all get along like one happy, dysfunctional family as the guy phrased it.
"Exactly. It'd be fuckin' CRIMINAL. So... you got yerself a permanent home now, got it?" He asked, smirking as he knew that somewhere outside, Uncle Dave was making SURE that idiot that touched her would NEVER want to come back.
"So, we got the living arrangements at the beach house all figured out then, huh?" Mac inquired. Having gotten drawn into conversation with Brayden had the teen forgetting all about the guy who had tried to force her into a dance.
"Damn right we do. And hey... if Mere decides she doesn't wanna move in? Then me and you each just got more room. One way or the other? We got some BITCHIN' digs now, girl." Did he sort of view himself as Mac's knight in shining armor? Yeah... but hey. She was his best friend. If he wanted to be a hero in her eyes, there was nothing wrong with that, right?
"So, umm. Now that we've got that all agreed upon," Mac started drawing her glass within her hands as her gaze dropped to the glass vessel. "I've started to think maybe I should get a job so you don't have to pay for everything for me." After her talk with Mouse, Mac was kind of feeling she was abusing Brayden's generosity. That she might have become some charity case he needed to support financially. Not that she'd work the long hours Mouse did, but get enough hours somewhere so that she could contribute to whatever bills and groceries Brayden was currently handling on his own.
"Hey... I get it. Nobody wants to feel like a mooch, ya know? But promise me that if you can't find a job, or if you get one that doesn't pay much, that you wont get pissed if I don't take any money from you. I mean, look... I can pay for it not because I work hard, but because both of my parents are filthy fucking rich." One good thing about Brayden: he had no delusions of WHY he was rich. "So... you wanna pitch in? Fine. But don't EVER stress yourself over it."
"I'd feel better if I did." Mac said glancing back up to her friend. "Wouldn't feel so much like a charity case then." The teen smiled softly only half meaning the latter part.
"Like I said. If you can? Feel free. Just don't ever stress over it. EVER. Nothing you ever do can even be a hassle or a burden to me. Like I said... I don't say it to many people, but... I love you, kid. Got it?" He leaned over to give her a sweet little smooch on the forehead. "You're stuck with me. So get used to it."
Those words warmed her internally that Mac smiled softly. A smile that brightened her features. "Promise. Love you too, Brayden Bale." It was probably the first time in a long time that those words had been spoken by the teen. The first time in a long time Mac was starting to feel like a normal person, and it was mostly due to the guy sitting at the table with her.
