Who: Hope and Mouse
Where: Hope's Dorm Room
When: Saturday, July 31st, Evening
Ohhhhhdear. Seriously, this was ROUGH. Mouse was not a girl known for her confidence OR her outgoing nature. "Nervous?" She said with an adorable lilt to her voice, sounding like she honestly might faint from nerves. "Um... I kinda didn't eat anything today because I've been all nervous and antsy and I tried to eat a donut at work but got halfway through it and felt like I might throw up."
Hope somehow managed to hold back a giggle. One of the things that she liked about this girl so much was that she was so adorably antsy and such. "Well, we can always go get something to eat or order in a pizza if you get hungry."
Now, granted, Hope was likely planning to pay for any food... but Mouse never thought like that. Her first thoughts were that she only had a few bucks on her and she was REALLY trying to save up to buy that tee-shirt she wanted at the mall. "Um... maybe if we get REALLY hungry. I have a few bucks I could chip in..."
Hope arched an eyebrow at her. "Why don't we call this one my treat and you can get the next one," she suggested. She knew that Mouse wouldn't let her ALWAYS pay, even though she really could, but hopefully she'd let her pay enough of the time.
God, she hated agreeing to this. But she SO very rarely tried to buy herself anything, you know? "Ok. Next time then." She smiled nervously, biting her bottom lip a little, like she wasn't really sure what to do or say next.
Hope reached out and took Hope's hand. "Good," she said. "We don't have to go out right now, though, unless you're already hungry."
"No... I... I still kinda have NO appetite." She really didn't either. She still felt all those butterflies taking up her entire tummy. "You... um... you look... r-really... really p-pretty tonight..."
"Thanks," Hope said with a smile. "So do you." She was certain that Mouse had no idea how pretty she really was. It was kind of sad. Hopefully Hope would be able to help out a little with that.
"Noooo... uh-uh." She laughed, blushing furiously as she tried to (sweetly enough) hide her face with her hands. "Th-thank you for inviting me over... I'd be lying if I said I haven't been thinking about you TONS since you asked m-me out..."
"Well, I think so, and that's what matters, isn't it?" At least the both of them weren't insanely shy, or they'd never get anything done, huh? "And you're welcome. I've been thinking a lot about you as well."
"Really?" Mouse actually looked confused there, and, with a sad tone, got the courage to ask what she'd been thinking. "Why is that? I mean... I'm SO not anything special..."
"Well, I think you're special," Hope pointed out. "I mean, I didn't think I liked girls before I met you, so you're obviously special, huh?" That's kind of how Hope thought about it, anyway.
"Wow... I brought you over to The Dark Side..." She giggled, at least feeling comfortable enough to make a little joke about it. "I literally spent ALL night yesterday just laying in bed, listening to my new CD and literally thinking about you. I'm so lame."
"That's not lame," Hope said. "I think it's kind of cute," she admitted. Only a little weird that she found something like that cute, right? "But yeah, you kind of brought me over to the Dark Side."
She wasn't going to admit that she was thinking thoughts of what it would be like to kiss the girl... and to do other much less pure things. Hey... Marlowe had at least started to awaken that side of her, ok? "Cute? Me?" Oh god... there was that squeak again.
"Yes, very cute," Hope said. Hope had been thinking some less than pure thoughts herself, but she had to admit that she wasn't exactly SURE what you did with another girl. Hell, her one sexual experience with a male had went SO well. So, no shock that she'd be a little confused about it all.
"Think I... um... think I could hold your hand while we talk? If that... I mean... if that's not kinda being stupid..." Oh god, Mouse... shut up already!!!!
"Sure," Hope said to her. "I don't think that would be stupid at all," she said. "I think I'd really like that, you know?" OK, so she was getting a little babbly right now as well.
Grinning, Mouse reached over and took the other redhead's hand, trembling a little. "So.. um... what have you been up to? Since... since we talked last, I mean?"
"Mostly just school stuff," Hope told her. "Ooh! I finally got a new Slayer, which is very good." It made her feel a lot less useless in being a Watcher, even if her Slayer was a little batty crazy.
"Oooo!" Mouse squealed happily for the other girl, bouncing a little. "Is she pretty? I bet she's pretty. All those slayer-types seem to be."
Hope laughed. "I guess so," she told her. "I think she's dating another Slayer type. Faith? I think that's her name. I really should be familiar with more of them than I am." She blushed a little. "She actually was the one who convinced me to tell you that I liked you."
"Then... r-remind me to thank her sometime." Mouse found herself looking around the girl's dorm room, as if trying to glean some kind of additional information about her.
There was actually a lot of drawings and paintings on the wall, plus more than a few art supplies strewn about the room. Hope was actually an accomplished artist. "I'll make sure to tell her," Hope said.
Her eyes widened a bit then, as she saw the time. Crap. She had meant to call the local rock radio station twenty minutes ago, when they were going to be having their contest to win those blasted tickets she'd been trying to get. She frowned slightly, then shook it off. She'd try again tomorrow... there was still one more day left for the contest, after all. "So other than maybe getting pizza... anything else you wanted to do tonight?"
Hope bit her lip for a second before answering. "I'm sure that we'll come up with something or another to do," she said. She didn't exactly mean it to be dirty, but it kind of came out that way just the same.
OH, but Mouse certainly heard it that way. And blushed. HARD. Along with a giggle. "Oh gawwwwd, I'm so sorry for blushing so obviously there. That just... sounded more like something you'd say in one of my stupid daydreams than anything."
Hope giggled. "No, it's OK. I mean, we ARE dating now, right?" She hoped that she hadn't kind of jumped the gun and assumed that, anyway. "It's OK to have daydreams and stuff." And it was OK to act on them, but she couldn't quite say that yet.
"It... I mean... we... we are?" Ohhhhhhgawd. Mouse hadn't been sure what the other girl was honestly thinking about them. She'd asked her out, sure. But some people thought of a date as, well...a date. Others, like Hope, it seemed, thought of it as something more serious, and were serial monogamists. Mouse kinda loved that. "I think I'd really, really like that. And... I'm glad it doesn't make me a freak to have those kinda thoughts about you. Cuz I've been havin' them a LOT." She giggled.
Hope grinned, breathing a sigh of relief when Mouse seemed to agree that yes, they were dating. She REALLY liked Mouse, after all. She didn't want it to just be like, a one date type of thing, after all. "Like I said, not abnormal at all."
"Have you met Lucy Van Warren? She sort-of, kind-of, not-really works at the Sugar Shack? She's been SO great to me lately... she's been trying to get me to talk to you, and she's even trying to get me a chance to meet my favorite band and everything. She's like... SO nice to me, considering she barely knows me..." So she was gaining a bit of hero-worship for the Van Warren sisters. Could you really blame her?
Hope smirked. Oh, she could see a bit of hero worship, but she knew that Lucy Van Warren was like, glued to Ash Kowalski's side, so no worries there. "She sounds great," Hope said. "I've talked to her a few times, but I don't really, like...KNOW her, if you catch my drift."
"I saw her when I was at the mall a few days ago... I was gonna ask her to have her boyfriend talk to you... find out if you liked me." She blushed, before making a bold (for her) move: she got up and sat next to Hope, leaning sweetly against her.
Hope gave her hand an extra squeeze when she leaned against her. "Ash and I don't really get to talk a lot, but I'm sure that he would have asked me about it if he had the chance. Luckily I talked to Candi first, though, huh?"
"Yeah... I got so excited to come see you I actually forgot to do things. I've been... sort of a bundle of nerves since you called me." She looped her arms around one of Hope's, sort of snuggling into her.
Hope shifted a little and wrapped one of her arm's around Mouse's waist so that their hips were touching now. "What all did you forget to do...well, other than eat, apparently," she teased.
"Well... I forgot to wash the laundry like I said I would, I forgot to call the radio station like I wanted to, I forgot to plug the iron in before I tried ironing my shirt, and I even forgot to wash my coffee mug before putting it back in the cupboard." She laughed, blushing again. "I'm so stupid sometime..."
Hope laughed. All of that was hilariously cute. "You're not stupid," she told her. "I think it's cute." And it kind of meant good things in her favor. If she was so distracted because of her, that was a good thing, right?
"I made notes to do a few of the things tomorrow. So I don't forget again. Mostly the radio and the coffee mug. Because my mom was seriously icked out by seeing a dirty mug in there." She laughed, kind of unable to help it.
Hope laughed again, too. "My parents would probably get aggravated if I did that, too," she said to her. "If I did that at my brother's house, I think he'd just try to chuck it at me."
"Hope?" Mouse squeaked, rather adorably. "Would... I be outta line if I asked to kiss you?" Sadly, she felt like a cheap tart asking that. For a simple KISS. She'd just... felt SO lonely and un-pretty since Marlowe had left...
Hope grinned. "I thought you'd never ask," she admitted, leaning forward half of the way toward Mouse. She didn't just want to, like, POUNCE on her or anything.
Mouse gave a cute little sigh as she leaned in the rest of the way, touching her soft lips to those of the other redhead. Was it wrong that she felt kind of honored AND turned on that SHE was the first girl Hope had ever wanted to do this with? Hopefully not, because she totally was.
If she had voiced that out loud, Hope wouldn't have found that weird at all. Hope closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling of the other girl's lips against her, although she wasn't sure if she should deepen the kiss or not press her luck yet or what.
For now? Mouse just pulled away for a moment and blushed. Time to show the liiiiiiittle bit of gumption Marlowe HAD taught her. "Um... maybe... if your roomate is gonna be gone for a while... I can show you a little bit more of 'The Dark Side'..."
Hope blushed a little when she said that. "I think I'd like that," she said. "Alice is going to be gone for a good while. Does this 'Dark Side' have cookies?"
"They do!" Mouse giggled, nuzzling Hope sweetly. "And I do looove cookies..."
