Who: Adrianna and Damon Where: Damon's house When: Thursday night
For one of the oldest (only Lillith was known to be older) vampires in existance, Adrianna still found herself surprised, even confused occasionally. She had been surprised by the sudden affection she and Damon had started to feel towards each other... but was also confused at the sudden disappearance of the man. She hadn't seen him in almost two weeks, which concerned her. He didn't seem the type to just... forget about someone, especially after how close the two had gotten. So, dressing to the nines (one-of-a-kind, cleavage-baring, leg-highlighting Versace dress, anyone?), she walked up to his door the moment the sun went down, knocking at the door... even as SOMETHING was already niggling at her.
Bella had always had the knack of knowing just when it was the right time to show up at his door. Still getting ready for the night, Damon answered the door in nothing more than the black leisure pants he usually wore to bed. A smile was on his face, which was intended for Bella, tensed at the edges when he got a bit of a shock at just who was in his doorway.
"Adrianna..." Damon practically breathed just as guilt slammed into him. He had been utterly caught up in Bella's return that...he'd forgotten the other woman that had begun to help him move on. A nugget of doubt started to form in the back of his mind about his...relationship with Bella. Perhaps Adrianna was right after all...
She caught that smile... and how quickly it faded, at juuust about the same time the scent hit her. It was faint, no doubt... but there was both the scent of a human AND the faintest smell of women's perfume. Damn it. "...well. I suppose I don't need to ask why you haven't called, Damon..." She tried to keep her tone steady, to not show how hurt and betrayed she felt. She was too old to let herself just act like some little girl.
The younger vampire said nothing as he silently stepped aside, leaning against the edge of the open door. If the older vampire wanted to step inside it was her choice. Damon pressed his cheek against the back of his hand that still clutched the edge of the door.
"So... is it some new human girl that has torn your attention from me? Or did the one I helped you get over manage to sink her hooks into you again?" Shhe asked in a voice far to calm to be sincere.
The words, That's unfair, jumped to his lips but Damon refrained from actually speaking them. It would've been impetuous, immature, and unfair of him to say such a thing to Adrianna. The vampire didn't say anything as he walked away from the open door and toward the stairs that led upward. Somehow, he thought it might be a better idea to have this discussion fully clothed rather in his pajamas.
"I'm not here to argue with you, Damon. It's not my style, and quite frankly, I'm not the type to jump to assumptions. But I think you and I need to talk. Now." She was trying. HARD. She didn't want to get pissed, as honestly, she hadn't lost her temper in close to 300 years.
The younger vampire paused at the bottom of the stairs, swiveling his head to look at Adrianna and nodded, "...I know." Damon started up the stairs once those two words had left his lips.
"Should I follow you, or wait for you here?" She asked, feeling her lip tremble a little. She REALLY didn't like the sound or the feel of this.
Damon paused to reply just before the stairs were cut off by the upper level, "I'll just be a second." True to his word, a moment later the younger vampire descended the stairs, barefoot in dark jeans and a dark maroon button down. The shirt ws untucked as he headed into the kitchen, buttoning one of the cuffs as he chose his words as carefully as he could.
Rolling his lips together, he turned to face the older vampire. His fingers pressed against his lips and then he let his hand drop away as he spoke, "Bella returned from the future. And..." Damon shrugged, "when I answered the door it was..." The younger vampire gulped, "It was like she'd never left." He lifted a hand to scrub at his face, "And I...got caught up in it."
"I see." She WAS going to ask if he'd slept with the girl... but the way he said that more or less answered the question for her. "Well... I don't really know what to say, Damon. I suppose I wish you could have at least called me... told me it was over..."
There was really nothing to say for what he'd done. Except... "No, I..." Damon cleared his throat, looking down at his hands, "...I think you're right, Adrianna." He looked up from his hands at the older vampire, "Because anything less than obsessession would've made me realize that I needed to talk to you as soon as Bella had returned."
"I was right?" For a second time, she found herself a bit confused. "About? About it being over?" She felt her lips fall into a cute frown, hands clasping on her knee. She was trying to keep her cool here, and not let herself show how hurt and horrible she felt right now.
A small chuckle came from the younger vampire and Damon shook his head, "No..." He moved to sit opposite her in one of the white, retro cube-like easy chairs, "I meant you were right about me being obsessed with Bella."
"....oh." She replied, almost completely at a loss for words. "You... seemed convinced she was your 'one true love', Damon. How is anyone supposed to deter that?"
"Adrianna...I love you both." Damon started to say, he gaze focused on the older vampire, "But...I'm beginning to believe that Bella needs someone that is there for night and day. Someone she can go old with, if she's given that chance considering her...career." The younger vampire sighed, dropping his gaze, "...And something between Bella and I can't be healthy if it made me forget someone that had become equally dear to me."
"I would agree, obviously..." SHe smirked then, shaking her head with a little laugh. "But I'd be lying if I didn't say that I just want you for myself. I feel like I can give you more than some human ever could... in every possible way." She said as she wagged her eyebrows at him suggestively.
A smile tugged at Damon's lips at Adrianna's implications and he laughed a little, lifting his gaze to meet hers, spying that suggestive smirk on her lips. The younger vampire cleared his throat and looked away, "Well...there's still a chance, um...if you want there to be..."
"I just refuse to be 'the other woman'. The moment you break it off with her... I'm yours." She leaned over to him, placing a long, sexually-charged kiss on his lips before breaking it off with an impish grin. "But until then? That's all you get."
Would he be entirely inappropriate for him to call the older vampire an utter tease at that moment? Perhaps, perhaps not. Only one way to find out. He sat up straighter, leaning toward Adrianna so that the tip of his nose brushed hers as Damon murmured, "...Tease."
"Tease? Hm. I prefer to think of it as a taste of things to come, should you make the right decision." So... she could play dirty, ok? As evidenced further by her next statement. "I'm sure Bella is... wonderful. But she's still a girl. Make the right decision... and you'll know just what a strong, powerful, WOMAN can do..."
The younger vampire's brow rose in mild shock and he laughed, shaking his head, "Hmmm..."
"Exactly. 'Hmm'. Now..." She quickly flitted over to the door, a triumphant little grin on her face. "On that note... I think I'll be leaving. You know how to get in touch with me... once you figure out what you want."
