Maybe a Change of Direction?
Who: Tara and Ash
Where: Ash's Place
When: Monday Afternoon, July 5th
After a few days of Rachelle being healed and OK, Tara decided that she would go and check on Ash. She didn't know the boy much at all, but, after what he did, she knew that he'd be completely drained, and, after performing so much magic at once, she wasn't sure if he'd completely recover the magical ability that he had before. Taking a deep breath, since it was a huge deal for her to go to a practical stranger's house like this, she brought up her hand and knocked on the door.
Hopping up from the chair he sat in, Ash took a look through the peephole, pleasantly surprised by who he saw on the other side. He knew Tara was a friend of Rachelle's, and he'd felt a LOT of magic about her. Wearing faded jeans and a Van Warren t-shirt (awww), he opened the door, smiling. "Hey... Tara. What's up? Everything alright with Rachelle?"
Tara nodded. "Rachelle's d...doing fine," she said to him. "I...I was actually wa...wanting to come and check on you. I know ho...how much magic it can take to do what you did." She looked him over.
"Yeah. I.... I'm kind of afraid I'll never be able to use it again. I won't lie, I'm a little scared. It's who I *am*, you know?" He asked, figuring if ANYONE would understand, it would be her.
Tara tilted her head and looked him over for a moment, as if sizing him up. "Well, the magic's still there," she told him. "It's just...kind of all lo...locked up some. You're going to have to st...start over, magically."
"Start over? Like... start with small, minor spells again? Because it took me almost four years of training to be able to throw energy like lightning..." He said, wondering if he'd ever REALLY be the same.
She nodded. "You might want to lean toward white magic this time." If there was one thing that she could talk confidently about, it was magic. "That way you won't have as much recovery time between spells."
"Only person I know who... is really good with that kind of magic is my aunt. And she's gonna be pretty busy soon..." He almost laughed there. Taking care of COURTNEY? Yeah. Addison was gonna have her hands WAY full.
"Well, if you'd like some help, I..I can help you with it," Tara told him. She was more powerful than even she realized, after all. She was just far more proficient in white magic.
"Really? You'd do that for me?" He asked, honestly unaccustomed to anyone other than Lucy or Meredith doing something nice for him for no reason. He blinked, knowing she was more than capable, as he could FEEL the power emanating from her.
"Someone should teach you," she told him. "Pl...plus I kind of want to." He seemed like someone who had never had anyone help him with stuff before, which may be why he picked dark magic instead of light.
"It's not gonna be easy. If... if we can get any sort of power back for me... my first instinct is going to be wondering why I can't use it to destroy things." Hey... he didn't want to scare her, but if this was going to even have a CHANCE at working, he had to be totally honest with her.
She nodded. "You're going to have to learn to n...not destroy things," she told him, "which I know sounds ridiculous. Everyone wants to throw fireballs and stuff." So said every wanna be witch and warlock that came into the magic shop.
"That... could be hard." He admitted, knowing that anytime he got mad... well... to paraphrase Martin Lawrence, shit tended to get REAL. "But I'm willing to try anything."
"As long as you are willing to try," Tara said, "then you have a good shot at accomplishing it." The hardest part in a journey was the first step, after all.
