Let's Hope This Night Is Quiet
Who: Roni OT Anyone
Where: Caritas
When: Saturday Night, 6/26

Feeling a little lonesome tonight, Roni decided to go out and actually socialize for a change. She really kept herself buried in work, but, when you dealt with people who were supernaturally inclined and also usually clinically insane in some way or another, you tended to have a lot of busy nights. There usually wasn't a night where she didn't get at least one call from someone who needed someone to talk to. However, tonight she wasn't to talk to someone that *wasn't* threatening to jump off a cliff or something.

OK, let's be realistic. She didn't want to ONLY talk to someone that was suicidal in some way shape or fashion. So, after ordering herself a beer, she hung at the bar, one ear listening for her cell phone to ring just in case someone needed her. She hoped that tonight would be a quiet night, though.

On the recommendation of Evelyn, Jacob paid a visit to Caritas, a sanctuary of sorts for people of the supernatural world. His mentor and former lover had said it was a place of character and the experience wouldn't be disappointing. Evelyn was certainly right.

Walking into Caritas after closing with Damon Braddock and the Super of his building, an experience itself that was rather weird and uncomfortable. As soon as Jacob had shown up to the meeting, both he and Damon had recognized each other for what they were. More than once while he was walking around the apartment, talking to the Super, Jake had caught the vampire staring at him and it unnerved the Necromancer.

Vampires, in general, unnerved Jacob but not for the reason that they could break his neck with one good shake but the fact that they were in...limbo for a lack of a better term. While their bodies no longer held a human soul, there was something in there that still kept them "alive." The fact that vampires were, literally, the walking dead was probably was drew them to Necromancers, who could control the dead.

But that was done with for the evening and Jacob had left as soon as it was polite once all the paperwork had been filled. Now he was at the bar, picking the empty spot beside Roni and ordered a glass of Johnnie Walker.

Roni herself wasn't the type to sing. Her mother had put her through years of voice lessons as a child (being the child of a witch with no powers of her own, her parents seemed to be insistent upon finding her SOMETHING to do), and she had a perfectly lovely soprano voice, but she had no real desire to reveal the inner parts of herself to a demon to read. Personal choice, if anything.

When someone sat down beside her, Roni turned to him and gave him a brief smile. She actually didn't get to interact with people all that often on a normal level, and sometimes couldn't always remember how to do it. She had the habit of accidentally 'psycho-analyzing' people while they were talking that they didn't seem to like, for some reason.

She took a sip of her beer, then grimaced slightly when what sounded like a sorority girl, although, when she turned she saw that it was also a vampire, took the mic and started to sing 'Baby One More Time.'

"Please, I think my ears have suffered enough," she muttered.

Beside Roni came a chuckle from Jacob just before he lifted his glass to his lips and took a sip. He moved to look over his shoulder, watching the vampire a moment before turning his gaze forward again. Before taking another sip of Johnnie Walker, the blond replied, "Ella Fitzgerald, she ain't."

Roni chuckled and shook her head. "I get the feeling that she has never even heard of Ella Fitzgerald," she said with a sigh. She took another sip of her beer. If she was going to have to listen to stuff like that, then she was going to need to have a few more drinks in her.

Jacob paused at Roni's comment and turned again to watch the singing vampire. Returning his attention toward the bar again, the Necromancer closed his eyes and threw out the feelers of his ability...whatever his "power" was, exactly, that made him sense the dead and death. He concentrated on the singing vampire, rolled her ...essence...around in his brain a moment before determining that Roni was right.

The blond opened his eyes, "She's too young, even by their standards," Jacob replied. He polished off his glass and the bartender asked if he wanted a refill to which Jacob nodded yes.

"You can tell?" Well, that was interesting. Her eyes actually flickered to his neck for a moment and she could see the vein thumping slightly, which showed to her that he wasn't a vampire. She wasn't prejudice or anything (as long as they didn't try to make a snack out of her). She just liked to know things about people. Occupational hazard, if you will.

The Necromancer's gaze flicked to Roni a moment, "Yes," he answered, nodding a little as he lifted his replenished glass to his lips and took a sip. Jacob set the glass down on the counter, his fingers twisting the glass absently as he watched. A faint smile curved his lips, "I, uh...can sense the dead."

"Really?" Sadly, the only thing this did to her was fascinate her. Even with all she dealt with, she had never met someone who could do that before. "That's very interesting. I've never known anyone who could do that."

Jacob chuckled again, taking a quick sip of his whisky, "I'd be surprised if you have. There's only about a dozen of us in the world or so I'm told." The blond young man looked Roni over and then asked, "So, um...what do you do?"

"Unique as well. Aren't you lucky." Of course, she knew that, usually, the more unique meant the more debilitating. Her brother was a good example of that. "I'm a psychiatrist, actually," she told him. She took another sip of her drink.
