Chosing A Prom Date
Who: Brayden & Mac
Where: Reagan High
When: Monday morning
Brayden had deliberated all night the evening before on who his prom date should be. He could ask Camille (she and he couldn't stand each other, but he knew he'd get to hit it: bitch was EASY), or maybe ask one of the similarly popular, hot, easy types. But then it hit him. Someone who needed him, who needed the ego boost more than he needed cheap sex. So, that morning, he made a beeline for the locker of the one person in school he actually legitimately CARED about. "Hey..." He said, looking down at Mac as he saw her getting some books from her locker.
Mac had just been pulling out the books she'd be needing for her morning classes from her locker when she heard the familiar voice from behind her. "Hey." The dark haired teen giving a light smile when she glanced up to Brayden with her books cradled in one arm and her free hand tucking loose strands of ebony behind her ear. "Fancy meeting you here." Okay, so the comment was a bit on the lame side, but Mac wasn't actually Miss Social Butterfly, and quirky comebacks didn't exactly come easy for her.
"So... I wanted to ask you something." He smirked, leaning against her locker. "I was trying to decide who to ask to prom. I considered pulling the popular card and asking Super Bitch..." He said, obviously meaning Camille, "and then I thought about asking Summers, cuz I'm thinking I might have a decent shot at hittin' that." Hey... Mac knew what kind of guy Brayden was by now. "But I thought about it and... I wanna take you. You deserve to go to prom, girl. And who better to take you than a hot motherfucker like me?" Sigh. Luckily? Mac knew him well enough to know he was being far sweeter than he was sounding.
There was a slight frown when Brayden mentioned that he had consider asking Camille to the prom, but Mac managed to listen in silence until he said who he had decided he wanted to take to the dance. "You want to take me?" Mac looked at him like she was actually hearing what she was hearing. Of all the possible dates he could have, because really what girl in their right mind would turn down the chance to be taken to the prom by Brayden Bale, the guy was asking her.
"Yeah. I want you to go with me to prom. C'mon... You and me? Who the hell there's gonna be a hotter couple?" He draped an arm sweetly across her shoulders, giving her a friendly smooch on top of the head.
"Are you sure? I mean there are more deserving girls who are way prettier that would die to go with you to prom." It wasn't that Mac didn't want to go to the dance with him, it's just her insecurities were tugging at her, which made her question Brayden's choice of a date.
"Dude. You're hot, ok? And you're a nice kid. I'd be honored if you'd go with me." He smiled and reached over, stroking her cheek sweetly.
A couple girls passing by them at that moment caught Mac's attention when she heard their giggles and saw the looks they gave her. It was almost enough to make Mac decline Brayden's asking her to the prom. "Okay." Mac smiled softly looking back up to the guy. "I'll go with you." Something inside her made Mac determined to show all those that looked down on her that she was good enough to be escorted to the dance by the hottest guy in the school.
"Go see my m-" he caught himself there, "my friend Skylar James. She's the singer for Suicide Messiah. She hangs at Avarice all the time. Tell her I sent you, and I promise you, she'll help you find a KILLER dress."
"Okay." Mac, though, was more then a little bit hesitant about doing just that. She needed to get a dress, that was true, but going to someone she didn't know for help in that department, well it would awkward and just a little bit of an uncomfortable thing for Mac to do. Knowing Mac she'd probably end up turning to Buffy or her cousin's girlfriend for help in finding a dress for the upcoming school function, or if it came to it she'd go out on her own to find the perfect dress to wear.
"Sweet. Gimme yer digits then. I'll call you later, we'll get all the details hammered out." He looked her up and down, and grinned. "Yer gonna look hot as HELL girl, I can feel it."
Mac could feel her cheeks burning red at his latter comment while she fished in her backpack for a pen and paper after setting her books back into her locker for the moment. "That's my cell number and cousin's home number." Mac told him as she offered Brayden the slip of paper with two numbers scribbled on it. Mac could be reached at either pretty much anytime.
"A'ight then." He said as he opened his arms wide. "Gimme a hug, babe. We're gonna have a BLAST."
She was unsure about that last part, at least about a guarantee that she'd have a wonderful time. Brayden? Well to Mac he always seemed to be the life of the party, so he'd probably have a blast and a half at the prom. That thought didn't prevent Mac from stepping forward into the guy's arm to give him the hug he wanted. Brayden was one of the very few friends she had that she'd do just about anything for.
