Bring Your Parents To Fun Night
Who: Ben, OT anyone
Where: Avarice
When: Monday, March 8th
What: Much like the hair-metal thread... it's just some goofy fun. To once again quote Chapelle's Show: It's a celebration, bitches... enjoy yourselves.

Benjamin Bale occasionally had some... rather odd ideas for themed nights at Avarice. One of his finer moments had been 80s Hair Metal Night. Well... this one? Had the potential to be as memorable, but possibly for horrific reasons altogether.

Yes, tonight was Bring Your Parents Night at Avarice. Any teen that brought at least one parent to to the club would be entitled to free drinks for the evening. Why this odd choice of themes?

Well. First and foremost, Ben loved people's money. And if he could find a way to bring MORE people into Avarice by showing parents that they COULD hang there without seeming skeevy, and show kids that their parents could hang there and not have to slice their coolness factor in half... bingo. More customers.

Then of course... there was the primary reason for this. The humor. Ben knew that everyone around here had been through a LOT lately, and sometimes, nothing helped more than some laughter, and good memories. And really: other than seeing people reliving the glory days of Poison and Winger (actually, did Winger HAVE glory days?), what could be funnier than watching the kids that normally swagger through the club with Ben-level cockiness looking freaked out and having a wiggins because their parents were there either being the world's funniest cockblocks, or god forbid, getting their OWN groove things going?

Oh, hell yes. This had so much hilarious potential that Ben couldn't resist. Even if it DID put him in the same vicinity as the parents of roughly half of the girls he'd tried to bed in the last year.

What the heck was she thinking? When Buffy had heard about Avarice having a 'Bring Your Parents' night, she had foolishly said something in front of her mother, which caused said mother to practically insist upon the both of them coming. Talk about fun right there. Still, Buffy held her head up high as she and her mother came inside. Besides, it wasn't like her actual main hangout, Eden, was going to do something like this ANY time soon.

"So Mom," she said as they walked inside. "What do you think?"

"What?" Joyce found herself questioning, and leaning in a bit closer to her daughter, when she realized Buffy had said something to her, but because of the noise level inside the place it made it hard for the older woman to catch exactly what her daughter said.

Buffy managed to refrain from laughing at the sight of her mother in a rock club, mostly because she was WITH her, which truly made it not funny at all. "What do you think of this place?" Buffy asked a little louder.

"This is where you like to hang out?" She asked with a raised voice so that her daughter would be able to hear her clearly. Avarice wasn't exactly her cup of tea, and Joyce had to wonder if perhaps half the crowd in the club weren't deaf from the sound level of the music playing.

"One of the places, yeah!" Buffy said back to her mother, also in a raised voice. Luckily, as a Slayer, she didn't need to worry about things like hearing loss. It was nice, actually. Of course, Buffy couldn't take her mother to the other place she hung out at in a million years. Too much supernatural stuff hung out at Eden for her mother to survive the night with her sanity intact.

"You're sister doesn't come here, does she?" Buffy was old enough to really do her own thing, and she was a slayer after all, but Dawn was another thing, and in Joyce's mind a place like Avarice was quite the unsuitable place for a young girl of her younger daughter's age.

"Buffy! Hey!"

The little, orange-haired catastrophe on legs named Sin pranced over to them, giving a little wave. She was dressed in a black mini over white pantyhose and two different colored stockings, bright pink tennis shoes, and a t-shirt that read 'Drink Apple Juice - OJ Will Kill You'.

"Hey, Ms. Summers! Havent seen you since that time I was never at your house." She said with a laugh and a mock glare at Buffy. "I'm Sin, a friend-slash-annoyance of both of your daughters."

"Hey Sin!" Buffy said to her. It wasn't an intentional thing that Buffy had never invited her over. Buffy tended to not invite much of anyone over. Between Slayerness, schoolness, and Kevin-ness, she had been way busy as of late. "And you're so not an annoyance."

"Hello. Nice to meet you, Sin." Joyce politely returned to the orange hair girl who seemed to know her older daughter, and herself apparently. "I'm sure you don't need your old mom hanging around with you and your friends, Buffy." She said addressing her daughter. "I'm going to go get myself a drink at the bar. You think they serve coffee here or is it purely an alcohol beverage type of place?"

Heading into the club, Lexi eyed the "Invite Your Parents" sign and winced, hard. Not only would it be a bad idea for her dad to be this close to this much booze, he could almost hear her mom's frosty disapproval of every piercing, tat and article of leather clothing. No thanks. Free drinks just weren't worth it.

And anyway, she was still a cheap date.

"Tonic water and lemon," she said to the bartender, settling on a corner stool. She was in leather pants and a biker jacket, an old Scorpions t-shirt, and sturdy steel-toed boots.

Oh, when Lilly heard that Avarice was having an invite your parent night, she had to drop in just to see the teens squirm about at the thought of having their parents watch them party. Now, when she saw someone she actually knew hanging about, and knowing that her and Lexi should get to know each other at some point, anyway, she made her way over to the guitarist.

"Hey," she said to her, sitting down at the bar next to her. Our of politeness to Lexi, she ordered herself a coke instead of a beer. "Interesting theme night they're having here, ain't it?"

"It's either the worst idea for a theme night since 'Dress as your Favorite Village Person' or it's comedy gold. I haven't figured out which, yet."

She frowned.

"Then again, that was comedy gold, too. Five hundred people in a club, wearing one of five costumes ... "

"That was pretty damn hilarious," Lilly said with a laugh. Normally, she wasn't one to just walk up and talk to people, but this was Lexi, someone that she really needed to get to know, both for Ginny and Stephanie's sake, so here she was, conversing and everything. Paige would be proud, or burst out laughing.

"So, how you holding up?"

"Okay, I think," she said. She nodded, stirred her drink. The things she'd been hearing on the street lately didn't always make sense, but this wasn't the time or place to spill. She took a rare tactful path, this one time, and swore she wouldn't make it a habit. "How about you?"

It was sort of weird to remember things that no one else did, actually. She didn't know what to think of that herself. Still, it didn't matter too much, apparently. Things were back to normal, and that's what mattered, wasn't it?

"I'm doing OK," Lilly said. "Things are pretty good, actually." They could certainly be a lot worse. "I finally agreed to talk to Paige even."

Things in Vegas were moving along quite smoothly, so well that Bronte felt she could leave the City of Sin for one night and not return to a complete mess the following day. It was a surprise visit of sorts, except for Ben whom she had spoken to earlier that day and sworn to secrecy about her planned visit.

Bronte entered Avarice wearing Armani in the form of a black sheath dress and black heels with her hair left loose to fall down past her shoulders. And it didn't take the blonde long to focus in on her prey, a dark haired, handsome man presently sitting up at the bar. "Buy a lady a drink." The words flowing seamlessly from her lips as Bronte settled onto the stool next to Grant's.

"Bronte!"

Grant beamed happily, honestly figuring this would be a hilarious, if personally uneventful night.

"Wasn't expecting this... what brings you in so soon?" Still, by the grin, the tone, and the kiss that followed? He clearly wasn't complaining.

"The unexpected is what surprises are all about." The blonde smiled once she had gotten the man's attention. "Well, I figured since you couldn't seem to manage a moment away from the city I'd have to take the initiative."

"Well, thank you." Wow... For once? No smart-ass comment, nothing but a happy smile and a little kiss on the lips. "Next week I have to cover an indy metal festival out near Reno... I'll stop by for a few days afterward. See how my budding businesswoman's doing."

Janie eyed the sign and almost turned back. Parents? What was this, a conspiracy? She hadn't talked to her parents in years and was almost certain they were dead. This was some day. First her idea of starting a band was rejected by her peers (Why shouldn't she play the accordion? It looked fun) then she'd lost track of Xander somehow so she was all alone.

Hoping he'd be at the club, she showed up and now it was parents night! Saying a few almost-curses under her breath she headed in and told herself that she would order a drink- alcohol! Who cared what her ID said? She was almost 87 years old!

Xander was hitting the hard stuff tonight ... root beer that came in an actual bottle, instead of from the soda fountain. Okay, not so much hard as slightly more expensive than Barq's, but it was tasty. He waved at Janie and smiled.
