Not a creature was stirring... well... except for Mouse.
Who: Mouse, OT all
Where: The Sugar Shack
When: Christmas Eve

Well DAMN! The Sugar Shack was EMPTY. Yes, it was Christmas Eve. And Chloe really only let the shop stay open tonight because she knew how bad Kaitlin needed the hours and really didn't want to be home sulking on a holiday. She'd asked the shy waitress if she wanted to have Christmas with the Van Warrens, but the quiet girl known as Mouse said no, feeling she'd be imposing on her boss.

So, she puttered around the empty place, humming a Christmas carol to herself as she cleaned one of the (already clean) tables, trying to keep herself in the holiday spirit...

Willow needed last minute Christmas presents. She couldn't BELIEVE that she'd put off her shopping this badly. Stepping inside the only place open on the entire block, Willow began to look around for little gifts to pick up for people.

And maybe she wanted a Sugar Fairy Shooter....she was surprised that she hadn't gone into withdrawal from lack of having them.

The waitress skittered over to Willow, giving a sweet little wave. Her cheeks carried a light flush to them, as she found herself (rather sadly) excited just to have a customer.

"Hi..." she tried to raise her nornally whispery voice a little. "I'm Mouse." She felt goofy using her nickname, but hey. Chloe had even put it on her nametag. "Can I help you tonight?"

Willow bit her lip, a hint of color coming to her own cheeks. "I'm Willow," she said, "I don't mean to sound like a pushy customer...I know it's Christmas Eve, but do you have anything that would be a good last minute gift? Or two? I kinda put off my shopping this year."

"Oh! Oh, yes!"

She perked up a little more, and pointed to a display of various stuffed animals that looked to be packaged with everything from candy, to various coffees, to gift cards.

"These have been selling REALLY well. And Chloe's got a bunch of stuff from her bands here too, like CDs, shirts, things like that."

Willow laughed, walking over to the display. "Awesome," she said, "You guys really have a great selection....I need quite a few gifts."

She then turned to the other girl. "So...why are you still here? It's kinda late."

Well now. THAT brought an embarrassed blush to the girl's face, and she looked away, not wanting to meet the other redhead's eyes.

"I... my family's really... really kind of poor. And I didn't want to be at home thinking about it. So I... offered to work tonight. Try to at least make a few extra bucks."

Open mouth, insert foot.

"I'm...um...." Willow's face turned a bright shade of red, "I'm um.... um....sorry that was a really rude thing of me to ask."

"Oh, it's ok. You were just trying to care. I'm not ashamed of it... it's just not a night where I wanna be sad, you know?"

Well. Way to go, Mouse. Go all mopey-pathetic on a customer.

"Enough about me though." She forced a sweet smile, trying to pretend the whole thing didn't bother her. "You're obviously looking for some help here. Maybe you should have a drink. Caffeine helps everything, after all!"

"Yeah," a small smile crossed Willow's face, "No it isn't."

Willow nodded. "Gift-getting has never been my strong point. Maybe I could use a drink...a Sugar Fairy Shooter, please?"

"You betcha!"

Mouse chirped sweetly, with a shy nibble of her upper lip. She quickly fixed the drink in question, having become something of a master at it now, and set it down in front of Willow.

"There you go. So.. how many people are you buying for?"

Catherine didn't celebrate Christmas by nature. Sure, she got Brandon and Jeremy a present, but she had always much more enjoyed New Year's (which, honestly, Russians had treated mainly like a secular Christmas, anyway). So, she had done most of the other girls a favor and taken the patrol tonight so that they could be with family or friends or whatever they had. Once she had done her sweep, she popped into Chloe's Sugar Shack to get her caffeinated fix for the night.

Uh-oh. It was The Crazy Russian Girl. Or at least that was what Kaitlin called Catherine in her head. She didn't know the girl's name... just that whenever she practiced downstairs, things frequently got broken, and people usually came upstairs sore and bruised.

"M-Merry Christmas... can I get you anything?"

"Yes, can I just get a regular black coffee?" Something kind of strange to ask for in this shop, but she wasn't in the mood for having so much chocolate and sugar that she could barely find the coffee in her coffee tonight.

She'd never noticed, until now, just how PRETTY Catherine's eyes were. How un-crazy they made her really look.

"Sure!" Chloe had told her, if any of the Slayers came in tonight, they were to get their drinks on the house. So!

She placed a single cup of black coffee in front of the girl, smiling sweetly.

"Chloe said you girls are to drink for free tonight. So enjoy."

"Thanks," Catherine said with a grin. Chloe was awesome for doing that for them. She took a sip of the coffee and smiled her. "Not a very busy night so far?" she asked.

"You're one of only..." she thought about it, the tip of her tongue sticking out as she silently counted. "four people that have been in here since about four o'clock."

Yet she still stayed. That... said a lot for her holiday spirit.

"Less people need caffeine right now?" Catherine asked, a little confused. She shrugged, though. No point in asking too much about that.

Since things weren't exactly... jumping right now, Mouse was actually able to enjoy a drink of her own. A nice big cup of hot cocoa, with extra marshmallows. It was one holiday tradition she was thrilled she was able to continue thanks to Chloe's generosity here.

"I think... most people are just at home tonight. With family. You know: singing, having a nice big dinner, maybe watching movies, exchanging gifts... all the fun stuff."

"My family is in Russia, so none of that for me," Catherine said with a slight shrug. "I'm supposed to be with my boyfriend tomorrow night, though." So, it wasn't a big thing for her. "What are you planning to do?"
