In Da Club
Who: Kara, open to all
Where: Silky's
When: Thursday night

Most people, when awaiting a call to find out whether or not they'd gotten a highly coveted gig in a popular band, would be a nervous wreck. Possibly sitting in front of the phone, a jittery mess.

Not Kara Roth, however. No... the laid-back, tattooed blonde was out dancing. While Silky's was a fairly small club, with frequently-busting AC, she loved the atmosphere and music of the small hip-hop club. She'd been a regular long enough to get past the novelty 'token white girl' status, and was well-liked by most of the other regulars.

Hey, if the band called? Whether to tell her they wanted her or not? She had an answering machine, after all.

Clad in a pair of black shorts, a flowered and sleeveless tee-shirt, and with her long blonde hair in cute pigtails, the laid-back young woman just got out on the dance floor, getting her groove on.

Gunn walked inside of Silky's after paying off the slight cover fee. Hey, they couldn't charge a lot when their clientele tended to be more toward the poor side. When he looked out onto the dance floor, he saw Kara, the girl that he had danced with the last time he had been able to come in here. He and his gang were celebrating a fucking victorious night, at least for them, after wiping out an entire nest of vampires. So, this was the time to have fun.

He walked out onto the dance floor and approached Kara. "Mind if I join you?" he asked.

"Hey! Gunn, right?"

She'd always been good with remembering names, even ones NOT as easy to remember as his.

"By all means! The more the merrier!"

"Yeah, it's Gunn," he said with a grin. He came up a little closer to her and started dancing. "So, how's life been treating you lately?"

Sebastian - or Knox, to the crew - wasn't one for celebrating on a good day. After a night wiping out a nest of vamps he would have preferred to have gone back to his place, taken a long, hot shower, and sat in front of the television with a six-pack. Fun wasn't something he did very often.

You had to know how to pick your battles. Going out and having a couple of beers at the club instead of in his apartment would cost him, at most, a twenty and would save him the headache of having to put up with the bullshit the rest of the crew would probably dish out if he skipped out yet again. So he'd settled at the bar, ordered a Guinness, and watched as Gunn made a beeline for what looked to be the lone blonde head in the group of people on the dance floor. With a shake of his head and the tug of a grin threatening to break free, he turned back around. One beer - maybe two - and he was out.

Another member of Gunn's gang, Max, walked in just after the rest of them and made herself some room at the bar as well. While she didn't usually go out on these things (getting funds was more her type of thing), tonight they had needed all the help that they could get, so she had tagged along as well. Even managed to stake a vampire. It really was a banner night for this gang.

She ended up sitting next to Knox. Luckily, Silky's was not known for carding, so Max ordered herself a beer and turned to Knox. "Wow, you actually came out tonight? In public? Truly, I'm amazed." She grinned at him to show that she was at least mostly ribbing him.

It was questionable whether Knox heard her at all. His sharp gaze followed the bartender's movements. The guy was on autopilot as he opened the bottle and slid it across the counter, his attention already drawn somewhere down the length of the table. Knox caught the bottle around its neck and lifted it for inspection. Arching a brow, he finally turned and held it out to Max, mouth quirked in a half-grin.

"Feeling like a big girl tonight, eh, Tink?" Yeah. Tink. As in short for Tinkerbell, because she was so freakin' tiny compared to most of the guys in the gang.

She had almost caught the bottle when Knox grabbed it, looking at it for a moment before finally letting her take it. She took it and took a swig before saying anything.

"I am a big girl," she pointed out to him. "Not all of us have to be as ancient as you." She was tempted to stick out her tongue at him, but realized it would just make his point. "Seriously, shouldn't you be off hiding in your bat cave by now?"

For a moment, he looked honestly amused as she insisted she was a big girl. Lifting his own bottle, he paused before drinking. "One day, you'll be this ancient too. If you're lucky." They operated in a world most people remained oblivious to. Long life spans weren't exactly the norm.

"I would be, but someone's got to keep an eye on the kids," Knox answered, his gaze landing on her specifically, "while our fearless leader's getting his Jungle Fever on."

"I think I might make it to be a hundred, so I guess I'll eventually make it to be as old as you are," she said with a smirk. She knew her odds, even before hanging around a bunch of vampire hunters. Still, it was a life she willingly led now, so it wasn't like she could bitch about it.

"Wouldn't the girl be the one with jungle fever, technically?" she asked, looking out onto the dance floor. She had seen the girl here before, but didn't know her name or anything.

"I have a twenty says you won't see forty. Prove me wrong and it's all yours. You won't even have to steal it." Turning around on the barstool, he checked out the other members of their crew who were hanging out, knocking back shots, dancing - partaking in the general celebration. "Since when are you all about semantics?"

She grinned at him. "I'll take that bet." Besides, if she was wrong, well, she wouldn't have to pay him back, right?

She looked out on the dance floor with him. "Maybe, I don't know. Semantics aren't really something that I know a lot about." It wasn't like she really knew what the word meant, anyway. Street education as it was.

He looked over to her and grinned, a real, full-blown smile. What it was about her that made him a little less silent than usual, he couldn't - or wouldn't - say, but Knox had to admit that Max amused him. In the midst of the life they led, there was still a touch of innocence about her. Not that he'd point that out, either - not if he wanted to keep his money.

"What're you doing over here, making conversation with the old and decrepit? Shouldn't you be out there?" He lifted his bottle, motioning to the dance floor, and then finished off his beer.

"Ha! Made you smile," Max said with a triumphant grin. It took a lot to make a man like Knox to smile. It was a rare thing, so she couldn't help but feel a tiny bit proud that she had pulled it off.

"Well, someone has to make conversation with you or you'll forget how to do it," she said with a smile of her own. She tipped back her own beer, making sure to keep it to small sips. She might be hanging with the bigger kids tonight, but she still knew her limits.
