Party like its 1999

Only I could end up shopping for party favors and have it turn into some sort of pseudo date thing. Putting Xander in the friends zone was easier said than done. I'd liked him in school when he'd been a raging asshole. Now he was all grown up, not an asshole, and almost sort of charming. None of which helped me out at work where the gossip was flying about me faster then the Millennium Falcon. Oh god, I was turning into a nerd by association.

We'd finished our shopping for party favors and then gone and arranged for food followed by a trip to Bevmo for some adult beverages. Strangely Xander hadn't seemed too excited about aisles and aisles of beer and spirits. He'd almost looked sick when he dropped me off at my apartment. We'd setup a date for me to come over and help him decorate, which was what we were finishing up now. Teetering on a ladder with no shoes on I stretched to hang the banner from a hook in the wall of the ballroom.

Things looked good, well good for a formerly abandoned hotel in the ghetto anyway. Buffy and Tara had come through on the cleaning and were now keeping Xander away from the food tables. He'd wired up the sound system earlier and we all had our fingers crossed it wouldn't blow a fuse. Looking around the room as I was hanging the banner I slipped backwards on the ladder.
"Xander!" He was holding the ladder and looking up my skirt, which wasn't helping me keep balanced. Managed to keep from falling as I finished hanging the sign and climbed down.

"No more ladders for Cordy, got it bub?" Slapped his arm as he smirked. Wasn't Buffy a slayer, couldn't she just have jumped up there?
