He trusted that his immediate staff kept his discussions with others confidential, but Project Stonewall had been kept a secret from him as well. Sinclair obviously had more knowledge of the project than him. “Very well.”
Pierce remained silent for the rest of the fast paced walk to the operation center. He thought of strategy and the difficult path ahead. He would have to draw a line and order the remaining Colonial Forces to defend it.
“Ten-hut,” an officer alerted at the doorway leading into the operation center. Officers and enlisted crewmembers standing were at attention, while those sitting at station sat up straight. Pierce walked in with Sinclair and proceeded to the center of the room. “At ease, carry on.” He looked up at the vast number of large screens on the wall with the latest data and video transmissions collected from the Colonies. He took in as much information he could gather. He then took a moment to talk to some of his senior officers and those assigned from Avalon’s crew. He not forgotten Sinclair, there was just much to get done, and he invited her to listen in.
A few minutes later.
“You have one minute,” he said now in a meeting room attached to the operation center. He closed the door for privacy. “Stonewall, what else do you know?”
