Raid on Ft. Iwo
WHO: General Scene WHERE: Ft. Iwo, Sagittaron WHEN: About 20 minutes after the nuke went off on Tawa.
Three cargo shuttles escorted by four military raptors approached Ft. Iwo under the dark mushroom cloud flying close to the ground. In the minutes of chaos and confusion, the tower did not question the approach of friendly ships at first.
“Lieutenant, are we expecting a flight?” asked one of the specialist from his DRADIS station.
“Hold on,” the officer said into a handset. “Not that I know of,” He glanced at the DRADIS.
“Probably a flight diverted by the nuke. Did you try to raise them?”
“Not yet,” replied the DRADIS specialist.
“What are you waiting for?”
“Yes sir,” the specialist began to key his headset. “Riders inbound Iwo, do you copy over?” No reply as the ships started to fly over the base. “Raptors inbound Iwo, please reply, over?” No reply. “Shuttles inbound Iwo, do you copy, please reply over?” The cargo shuttles began to break formation each escorted by a single raptor.
“Sir, I’m not getting a reply,” reported the specialist.
“What in hades are they doing?” The officer said as he watched the DRADIS. The extra rogue raptor was heading directly to the airfield.
Within seconds the tower was in range of the rogue raptor. The gun ship fired a pair of guided air to surface missiles. This act automatically set off alarms in the tower, but it was too late for those inside to react as the head of the tower exploded.
The other rogue raptors began to fire guns on people on the ground near the landing zones of the cargo shuttles with now opened cargo hatches. Once on the ground, Cylon advanced centurions never seen yet seen by the Colonials, flooded out of the ships.
