Hello Browncoats,

My buddy, Legi, and I have been on a serious Firefly/Serenity hyper kick for over a week now. So we just started RPing a chat and that's turned to four parts of a series so far. Below you'll find links to the first two parts which are posted. Feedback and comments of the constructive variety always welcomed. Enjoy!

Title: Firefly fanfic role-playing
Authors:  Jayden and Legi
Fandom: Firefly / Serenity
Characters/Pairing: Malcolm Reynolds / Simon Tam
Rating: NC-17 to R
Summary: Slash, dominance/submission, bondage, lashing with a belt, deflowering, lots of snarking. Mal and Simon discover a new way to interact. These are the first two fics of a series.
Disclaimer: Don't own any of these characters and don't make any money off them. This here's just for fun.

(The Belt - Part 1)

free screening in Dayton, OH [Jun. 12th, 2008|05:46 pm]

The Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs, OH will host two free screenings of the 2005 adventure film SERENITY to benefit the international human rights organization Equality Now.

Screenings will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 4 p.m. and Monday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. (Doors open 30 minutes before show time.) Although there is no admission charge to the event, donations to Equality Now are strongly encouraged. Donations will be collected at the event, and can also be made online at LittleArt.com beginning Friday, May 9.

Equality Now works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public pressure. Issues of concern to Equality Now include rape, domestic violence, reproductive rights, trafficking, female genital mutilation, political participation and gender discrimination.

Beginning in 2006, fans of SERENITY and its writer-director, Joss Whedon, began organizing screenings of the film around the world to raise money and awareness to benefit Equality Now. (Whedon was an Equality Now "Men on the Front Lines" honoree in 2005.) 2008 marks the first time an Ohio theater outside of Cleveland has participated in this worldwide effort.

"The Little Art is extremely proud to host these free screenings, and to offer Yellow Springs, Dayton and our neighboring communities this important opportunity to come together in support of equality and opportunity for women around the world," said Little Art owner Jenny Cowperthwaite.

Shown at the Little Art from a pristine, high-definition digital source, SERENITY stars Nathan Fillion as Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family — squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. When Mal takes on two new passengers — a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister — he gets much more than he bargained for: The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl and her unique abilities. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. (Universal Pictures)

From the Equality Now website (equalitynow.org): "Equality Now is extremely grateful for the support of [SERENITY fans] and inspired by the tremendous energy and commitment they have put into their efforts to support our work to end human rights abuses against women and girls around the world."

The Little Art Theater will also be offering the following Whedonverse media for sale with 100% of the profits going to Equality Now:

Sadly, as we all know, Firefly was cancelled. And even though the movie was great, the actors can't go on forever portraying their characters.
Nathan Fillion was the main character , Alex Tully, on the Fox television show Drive. But that show was cancelled after just four episodes. Summer Glau dabbled in many things, like The Unit (Crystal Burns), and The 4400 (Tess Doerner). Soon she should be in a upcoming television series called The Sarah Connor Chronicles playing Cameron Phillips) in 2007.
Adam Baldwin is now in NBC's Chuck Major John Casey), which aired last night, Monday, at 9.
If you have seen or know what the rest of the crew is up to lately, please post it! It's always great to know what our fellow Brown Coats are up to!! And to support them by watching them.
If you have ANY news or fanfic, or anything on/about the crew, firefly, or serenity, please you're welcome to post it!
