"Why do I have to know?" she asked, sounding angry. "Why can't we just find out? Jesus, Elaine, isn't it enough that I'm trying? Or does everything need to be in neat little boxes for you?" She was frustrated, she was, at far more than just Elaine, but at least Elaine was there to hear it. "I'm not some story you can wrap up all the loose ends on. I'm a person, a very confused person, and all I wanted tonight was to try and figure one thing out. I can't have all the answers right now. Hell, I don't even know if I can have some of them. But why the hell isn't it enough that I'm willing to look?"
