Lexi paused at the door, considering her. To be truthful, those were the only things she ever let out. They were the easy things, the superficial ones. (Because if Arthur couldn't love her, knowing every inch and breath of her, how could anyone else...)
But Elaine was asking for more. For normalcy. And a few months ago, Lexi would have smiled and laughed and made some joke and glossed over the whole thing. Now, though, her bed was too empty. Her apartment far too quiet. And Lexi was beginning to wonder if all those times she'd run, all those moments she'd kept herself separate had been him instead of her. Had been his fears leaking into the present.
Finally she moved to sit back on the couch, her eyes never leaving Elaine's. "What do you want to know?" she asked quietly.
