"I was lucky," Lexi admitted, pouring two glasses of wine and handing one to Cecilia. She sat next to her, crossing her legs as she held her own glass loosely between two fingers. "Nathan Tarn, who owns the place next door, gave me a lease on it. Otherwise I'd probably be selling cookies from a shopping cart."
She smiled at Cecilia, easy and unfettered. Lexi knew that little twist of familiarity, could sense she should be paying closer attention to something; but, quite frankly, after her discussion with Arthur, she was feeling a little self destructive. Lexi just wanted to bury herself in another person, to remind herself she was someone who could be wanted. That not everything would end with her standing alone. And Cecilia seemed amicable to the situation, was beautiful and intriguing, so what could possibly be the harm?
