ex-quodpot heartthrob Tony W nabs special guest star role on Art & Soul; two fandoms go wild with speculation; we break it down. It's not often that the Quodthots and the Soulmates (for anyone living under a rock, that would be the Quodpot fandom and the Art & Soul fandom here on Watchwitch, respectively) have a collective reason to lose their minds, but that is the situation we find ourselves in today, witches and gentlewatchers. As longtime WWs know, recently-retired Quodpotter and professional object of thirst Tony W has long been an enormous TV drama fan. He's just like us! (If you're new here, check out his entry in our occasional series, Farida Talks Fandom With Fandom Faves, for details on what our stupidly gorgeous dramahead ships.)
Tony, of the Slammers and then the Flyboys, retired from Quodpot last August after a broom crash that nearly killed him (but didn't mess up his perfect face, praise be for aesthetic miracles), and the Quodthots have been in mourning ever since. The League is just less pretty without you, T! Since last summer we've been getting our fix of dreamy hazel eyes, gorgeous smiles, and rock-hard abs through his 'gram, which he updates copiously from his home in Northwest with hot gym selfies, food porn, photos of an ever-changing roster of beaus, and the latest info on his twin sister's pregnancy, but from the looks of it we'll be seeing a lot more of him soon. Orrin Holloway, general troll and showrunner of Art & Soul, has been teasing fans for weeks with promises of new characters and drama up to eleven as the hit series and WW obsession nears the end of its first season, and late last night he sent the fandom into a frenzy with this post on his 'gram:
West-coasters, night owls, and international fans had already been buzzing about this bombshell for hours by the time the WCN put out a brand-new casting announcement this morning: The WCN family is excited to welcome former Quodpot All-Star Tony Wyrzykowski to "Art & Soul" as a special guest star! Tony will make his acting debut in two episodes of the sizzling, chart-topping dark teen drama as Rafe, the charming and dangerous older brother of Gabe DiAngelo. After being expelled from HAHA seven years ago when he was suspected of using forbidden Dark Arts, talented painter Rafe vanished without a trace. When Gabe gets an owl from his missing brother, an unexpected reunion turns into a race against time to clear Rafe's name before the mysterious Mors Mortis Society tracks him down… Find out what happens next in "Art & Soul", Tuesday nights at 8/7c, only on the WCN. SO MUCH GOING ON HERE. Let's unpack. 1) First and most importantly, we need to note that could spend an eternity staring into Tony W's dreamy eyes. (Commence a half-hour debate in the WW office about whether those gold flecks are more "caramel" or "honey" in the light. The question remains unresolved.) 2) As all true Soulmates know, junior violin player Gabe DiAngelo is the purest cinnamon roll who ever cinnamoned, but since transferring to HAHA this year he's lived in the shadow cast by his mysterious older brother, Rafe, who was expelled in his senior year with the implication that he was a dark wizard. Gabe has always believed his brother was innocent, and it looks like we're about to finally find out more about just what happened at the Academy seven years ago. We have theories. Check them out. 3) Super-hot Tony W is playing super-adorable Max Fratellini's brother! Don't they look JUST THE SAME? Are you screaming? We're screaming. That is all. 4) We here on WW have speculated that smoking hot new Charms teacher Damien Yang (played by pro duellist and certified snack Griffin Lee), who we've seen receiving a few mysterious messages since the midseason break and who told Gabe that he knew Rafe before his expulsion from the Academy, might know more than he's telling about his former schoolmate's whereabouts. Could those messages he's hiding be from Rafe -- or could they be from from the as-yet-unrevealed (but very sinister-sounding) Mors Mortis Society?
5) We haven't seen too many crossover acts between Quodpot and TV, but with the announcement of Tony's casting right on the heels of another former Quodpotter, Pandora Starkey, joining the cast of Witch Rangers of Mars, could that be changing? After all, Quodpotters don't tend to have long careers, and they have to do something with their gorgeous, fit bodies after they're done wrecking them for our entertainment. Personally, we have a whole list of current and former Quodhotties we'd love to see on our screens. Orrin, if you need more ideas, call us. We have tons. ⓦ |
