Who: Kara Thrace
What: Everybody come get drunk. Maybe play cards?
When: Evening
Where: Starbuck and Longshot's quarters - 16th floor, room 5
Rating: PG-13 likely, TBD otherwise
Open: to whomever would like to come play! Nudge to the BSG cast, look-a-likes, and other military folk! No posting order, threadjumping okay and expected!

Kara was adapting. Sam had moved in with her, so it was somewhat familiar. Not very, since she and Sam hadn't really lived together since New Caprica. They might have been in the same rack, but that didn't mean they were really a married couple. Not like the rest, who shared quarters away from the general population.

It was an adjustment, but one she was trying for. That was a change of pace, if nothing else.

That didn't mean Kara had decided to be domesticated. No, she needed to get out and mix it up with people. She might have felt isolated in her 'destiny' aboard Galactica, but she felt different here. That driving urge was gone. She could be herself again.

And herself wanted to drink. And play Triad. And maybe punch someone in the face. And maybe get punched in the face. She wanted to let go and enjoy herself for once, instead of worrying about Cylons and humanity and Vipers and her marriage and what she was frakking up now. And maybe it would give her a chance to reconnect with friends and a lover she'd pushed away, and make new connections.

Whatever the case, she was already plotting how long it would take her to get to shitfaced.

"You love it," she quipped, grinning widely at him. The snarking between the two of them had been from moment one, when they'd first met on Caprica. It was easy. It flowed like water, and had been so dammed up lately that it was like a floodgate had broken. Kara could breathe again.

She could play at being mean to Sam, not actually be mean, like she had been.

Kara pulled herself into his lap and grabbed her bottle again, curling against his chest to look out over the city as he mentioned the view. It was beautiful, even if they were in the desert. A gentle breeze blew over her skin, and she sighed, closing her eyes against it.

Earth. Somehow, she'd gotten here. Her destiny was fulfilled, and now she could just relax and be. Sure, she was itching like a stim junkie to get into a Viper, but other than that? She could learn to not be on a lone battlestar protecting the last remaining humans in the galaxy with a tenuous at best truce with the Cylons.

Sitting on a balcony in Sam's arms with a bottle of booze and a spectacular view? That definitely sounded much more appealing.

"Not a gods damned view like it. Want to explore the city with me soon?" She turned her gaze to his face, leaning in to nip at his jaw before taking a few long gulps from her bottle.

Sam relaxed beneath Kara's weight, finding it a comforting presence. She was warm and smelled like Kara. He couldn't explain it, but she was just how comforting to all of his senses. He felt the breeze blow over his skin and he smiled as he looked over the view.

This was better than Caprica. Better than winning a Pyramid game. This was the best moment of his life. He had a slight buzz already, sitting here with Kara, and he tilted back the bottle and took a drink.

"Yeah. I'd like that. Just you and me. This place kinda reminds me of Picon. You know, without all of the water." He leaned into her nip, grinning.

She settled against his chest, sighing and closing her eyes for a long moment. His faith in the two of them... It was always astounding to her. She'd played with his heart like it was nothing so many times, and yet he still stayed there, waiting for her to wake up.

As she saw it now, she was waking up. She was waking the frak up and seeing what was standing in front of her, waiting patiently. Sure, it turned out he was a skinjob. That was a flaw she wasn't quite ready for. Then again, it was a flaw. Sam's perfectness had been marred a little.

Kara might still have seen herself as a total frak-up, but at least she wasn't married to a saint anymore.

"Didn't spend much time on Picon." She opened her eyes and stared out over the bright city ahead of them, feeling the numbing edge of the booze drifting over her. Kara settled more heavily into Sam, laughing a little. "Mmmmm, who knew kidnapping could be so relaxing?" She laughed again and looked up at him, grinning as she kissed him.

Sam believed in Kara. He believed in them, in their love, and it wasn't anything that anyone could convince him otherwise of. He ran his fingers over her shoulder again, staring out at the city scape, and he loved that moment.

Loved everything about it.

He just grunted in return and lifted the bottle to his lips, the liquid swishing around for a moment before he tilted it back and took a drink. "If I'd have known, I'd have kidnapped myself a long frakkin' time ago." He kissed Kara's forehead as she leaned into him and he felt his lips quirk in a small smile.

"I love you, Kara Thrace, no matter where we are, when we are, or who we are. Don't you ever forget it."

She looked up at him once more, her heart lurching in a good way at his words. Kara did love him, even if she wasn't sure she deserved him. He wanted to love her, so for once, she was going to let him. And do her damnedest to love him the way he deserved.

"I love you too, Sam Anders, even if you are a frakkin' skinjob from my future." She smiled a little, leaning in to press her lips to his. "I love you, Sammy." Her voice took on a serious note, Kara wrapping her arms around his neck. Her eyes closed and her brow knit, Kara squeezing him tightly.

It didn't matter that they'd been taken, that they were now sitting on a balcony on Earth throwing back booze. She felt happy.

And she was going to try to hold onto it this time.
