RP: It's Party Time
Who: James, Dylan, Albus, all the people invited who want to show up. Please add your tags
Where: Their flat
When: 29 August, 2009
Rating/Warnings:
Summary: It's time for drinks and conversations
Status: Private | Complete

James had managed to get off from work a little earlier and had rushed home to make sure that they had everything ready. There was plenty of finger food, set up on different trays that they put in different corners of the living room. The table had been reserved for booze and there was lots of it from firewhiskey to cognac to anything in between. The beer and vodka was in large vats filled with ice. There was music playing on the background, but not too loud that people couldn't talk.

They had moved the furniture around. There was some magic involved, and the room was made bigger. They also had to transfigure some of the furniture so that they could have more chairs and couches, but in the end everything was perfect.

By the time people arrived, everything was set up. Now, it was time to enjoy the party.

(OOC: James has left the door ajar after opening it for Rose. People can come in and out and just talk to each other)

Dylan turned and smiled at the witch, passing her the bottle requested even while nodding and grinning. "We shared classes and a common room for seven years and you need Jamie telling you that I'm fun?" he grinned. "I'm so disappointed," he added with a mock posh accent.

"And hi, by the way. It's nice to see you again, Minnie. It's been too long. I hear you've been so lost without my company that you've spent time with Jamie instead. You must be lonely," he teased.

"Thanks, by the way, though we'll see how long we keep it. It's nice but a bit small for the three of us."

"So what have you been up to since school? Other than missing me terribly and spending time with James, that is."

She laughed, taking the bottle from Dylan's hand and twisting the metal cap off easily. "Well you know the mind does forget easily after two or three years since graduation," Minerva teased. "I suppose we'll have to think of something for me to make it up to you."

Putting the bottle up to her lips, she drank down two gulps of the cold brew. "It's good to see you too, Dylan." She grinned. "You know, I didn't realize just how lonely my life had been without you in it? Now I see just how lost I've become." Minerva chuckled at their banter.

"Just keep clear of Jamie's dirty socks and you'll be fine. I've been thinking about moving out of my dad's place recently, yeah? Everyone's getting their own place and I'm still at home. Kinda feeling left out."

She shrugged, sipping from her beer again. "Not much. The usual - going out, partying, drinking, shagging." Minerva grinned. "Yes, and spending time with James whenever he isn't doing that whole trying to be an Auror thing that he does. I am working at Ollivander's at the moment though. Assisting Alicia Spinnett, who runs the shop. It's been very interesting - and busy!"

Dylan laughed. "Well you're here, we're talking, you should be right on track in a few minutes," he teased back. "I'll just have to make sure you're not getting lost again, eh?"

"See that's the perk of different rooms, as long as he keeps his socks in his own room, I'm just fine," he said with a laugh. "It was far worse in school. Seven years in a dorm together - there were a lot of smelly sock lying around."

"Your own place is a very good thing. Partying and shagging gets a whole lot easier," he said with a wink. "Well at least if you don't have the boring flatmate I had until just recently. Jamie is going to be so much better."

"Have you thought about what type of place you want and where?"

He laughed as she went on, grinning at her. "That whole trying to be an Auror thing can take a lot of time," he said with a smirk. "But we're usually able to have our time off as well."

"I can imagine the shop being busy at this time of year. You must be flooded with eleven-year-olds." He smiled, then tilted his head a bit as he took a sip of his beer. "So if I ever need a new wand you're the one I should turn to now? Or should I rely more on your boss still?"

Minerva grinned with Dylan. "Too true, that. But I think it's safe to say that now you found me and I found you, that I won't get lost again anytime soon." She winked at Dylan, being cheeky.

"I can imagine. Well now that you're sharing a place with James next time I'm over visiting him I'll have to remember us putting up silencing charms. Especially around Albus too."

Minerva sighed wistfully. "Oy, yeah. My dad has forbidden me to take blokes home which is such a nuisance. Not that I want a steady bloke or anything, but still - sometimes you meet one that doesn't have his own place either." She twisted her mouth downwards.

"I wouldn't mind just a one bedroom flat for myself, but I don't know if I could afford it. Dad will doubtfully pay for it all. He's very into the whole 'learning your independence' thing. If you know of anyone who's looking for a roommate though, you know where to find me."

Minerva snorted. "Gods, yes. They're so bloody small too! I can't remember ever being that small, can you? And the muggle-born kids are hilarious when they first get their wand. One girl actually shrieked and ran out the shop crying at her first try, but she managed in the end."

She shook her head, finishing another swallow of beer. "No, you'd better rely on Alicia. I don't do anything but assist. She's trying to teach me how to help a person choose a wand though. That's been fun."

"That was an image I did not need," Dylan exclaimed with a grin. "And here I thought you and Jamie were just sitting around drinking tea. To find out you've corrupted his poor innocent heart..." He couldn't even go on before he was laughing too hard.

"Silencing spells are a part of the deal, there are things I don't want to hear. Jamie having sex is definitely one of them." He chuckled as she went on. "Poor Minnie, no place to seduce the young ones. That must be rectified, naturally. I'll keep an eye out for you."

He laughed. "Oi, I might be a half blood but for all intents and purposes I was one of those kids when I got my wand," he said with a grin. "Hell I didn't even want a wand, I was so pissed off at being a 'freak' I didn't even stop to consider that magic could be cool."

She giggled. "Oh is that what you thought? Really, Dylan for a boy of your age you should learn to get a dirty mind. Oh, please innocent? James? Are we talking about the same bloke here?"

Minerva swatted Dylan playfully on the arm. "I can keep an eye out for myself thank you. And if James hasn't gotten himself wrapped around some other witch, I may be spending the night." She gave Dylan another nudge.

The beer she had nearly came out of her nose. "Oi! Don't tell me these things when I'm drinking!" Minerva wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "Poor ickle Dylan afraid of magic. Well you aren't now, are ya so that's good."

Dylan laughed. "You are completely ruining my image of my best friend. I thought for sure he was saving himself for the wedding night," he laughed, completely unable to keep a straight face. "Now wouldn't that be a sight."

"Just remind him of those silencing spells, yeah?" he said with a smirk.

He chuckled. "Not afraid, angry, there is a difference, but yeah, no longer." He shrugged, not feeling up to explaining how he'd blamed magic for losing his mother and sister and how hard he'd wished not to be a wizard so that his mother would love him again. It was a party after all, no need to be depressing for things that happened nine years ago.

"Nooo!" Minerva laughed in disbelief that Dylan could ever think that of James. "Stop it you're going to make me wee myself, prat," she told him, in between giggles. "Well I guess someone had to ruin your image of the most arrogant bastard we know, so might as well be me."

Little did Dylan know that half the time, Minerva was the one that cast the silencing spells. James did get forgetful in his eagerness.

She nodded, giving Dylan a look of sympathy. "All kidding aside, I suppose it is a shock to someone the first time with magic. I try to understand, but its hard when you've grown up around it," she explained.

"Well, seeing as James has decided to make himself scarce why don't you show me around before it gets too crowded in here?"

Dylan shrugged. "It wasn't as if I didn't notice something was off with me. You don't randomly blow things up when you're angry and not notice." He grinned, then shrugged. "Sure, though there isn't much to see."

He gestured around the room. "This is the living room, obviously, though it's not normally this big."

He started to walk towards two of the doors in the room, both on the same wall. "Here are the bedrooms, mine..." He opened the door to one and let her look inside. "And Jamie's" he said, simply pointing to his. "I figure you'll see that later," he added with a smirk, resetting the wards on his room so that no one could go in.

"Out in the hallway you have the door to the bathroom," he went on pointing. "And in here..." He pointed to another door. "Is the kitchen." He opened the door and let her look inside. "As you can see we have every potion under the sun gathered here," he said with a grin before stepping back out into the living room. "That's it, really," he said with a shrug. "Hardly a mansion but nice enough."

"Reminds me of my little brother, Frankie. He's got a wicked temper. When I teased him when he was much younger, he could blow things up too," Minerva advised. "Me, I was always trying to get into things I shouldn't. You know, my father's greenhouse and different rooms at Longbottom House that I shouldn't be in. Not to mention always wanting to play with wands. Turned my mum's face into a pig once. That was hilarious," she said with a giggle.

As she was given the tour, Minerva felt a longing once again to get on her own. "I see your room is much neater," she said with a wink. She then shrugged. "Oh, I don't know. He's been very unattentive to me tonight. I may just go home," she said loftily, though her mouth was smiling.

"Hmmm, I have a feeling this room will get occupied plenty over the next few hours," Minerva suggested of the loo.

"Its really nice, Dylan. I'm completely envious, naturally."

Dylan laughed. "Now that I would have loved to see. And you know if you ever grow bored with James..." he waggled his eyebrows, though really he was only joking. That was something he wouldn't do. Joke around, flirt, but even though James and Minnie weren't serious he'd never try to go further. Not while she was shagging James at any rate, he doubted even after. It would be too weird.

'Thanks," he said to her praise of the flat. "Of course we're likely to have to move soon, but hey who cares, right?"

He looked over to see one of the guests look dangerously close to throwing up in the sofa, and while he was not completely sober himself, he was sober enough not to want that to happen.

"Sorry, got to cut this short," he said, nodding over to the slightly pale guest just as he dashed away. Minnie would understand, and they could talk later.
