Any decision on my part regarding him is based on the way he's acting and not you.
You aren't to blame for anything. I invited him because he was a friend before you were married, just like I invited his brother. He still has a mouth and a hand, so he can talk or write; he didn't do either. So yes, it was his fault. Besides, we have given him no reason to feel unwelcome and it seems like a big excuse to me, especially on top of his absence at the funeral and that's not something that I will forget lightly.
As I said, I won't bother him with invitations any longer.
