RP: Lighting Ceremony
Who: Stephen, Pansy, any and all wizards and witches. (add your tags)
Where: Nott Manor
When: December 8 (Post starts around 4 pm, right after sunset) {Pre-dated by 4 days}
Summary: The Nott family is hosting the annual Lighting Ceremony

For centuries, the Nott family had held Lighting Ceremony. It was the one time of the year when bloodlines and money didn't matter; everyone was the same. Even the house elves took part to the celebration and were treated as equal (not that Stephen liked to treat them as slaves the rest of the year), and the ceremony was open to everyone with magical ability. It was one tradition Stephen was quite pleased to uphold, even if it felt strange to do it without his father there.

In the morning, he and his mother had had breakfast together before helping the house elves with the decorations. He probably should have asked Andromeda, but this was family and Andromeda wouldn't be family for much longer. In fact, they barely spoke anymore. If he was truthful, he would have rather invited Azriel, but he didn't think either Azriel or his mother were ready for that, and today it was the Immaculate Conception, a day to honour Mary and mothers. Stephen would not upset his mother unduly.

In the afternoon, they had gone to the chapel for the Mass, before heading off to where the party would be. They had set up, as usual, right in the middle of the park, the only flat land with a perfect view of all the trees. They had created special protections for the dragons to prevent idiots from sneaking into the reserve and getting eaten, although Stephen thought that if they were that stupid, they deserved what they got, but then it would spoil everyone else's Christmas and he couldn't allow that. There was Christmas music echoing through the land and tables set up with hot cider, tea, champagne and lots of food. Everything was self-services as even the house elves had a day off and their own private party from where they could see the lightening of the trees.

At dusk, father Luke said the blessing, and finally when the sun went down, the lights came alive. Every tree in the land lit up creating an amazing game of colours, creating a winter wonderland that would last until the Epiphany. For Stephen, this represented a day of hope, the beginning of a new liturgical year and hopeful of a solar year without so much pin and suffering. Today, the Christmas season began.

Louis had gone to the lighting ceremony every year as a child until he'd started Hogwarts, and then last year he'd taken up the tradition again. It was strangely comforting to know that despite his brief time... out of commission... he hadn't missed another one.

Though his father was here, as well as a much of the rest of his family, he found himself after a time standing a bit away from the crowd simply to get some air. He toyed for a moment with the sleeve of his sweater, a rich blue that seemed to bring out his eyes, and warm besides.

The lights were beautiful.

Julius were moving around the crowd with ease, talking to as many people as possible. Partly this was because he actually enjoyed this day, the tradition, the snow and the lights. It was a tradition as old as any could remember, and one of the traditions he felt was important to hold onto.

Another reason to speak to as many people as possible was business. He needed the word out there that the shop had opened and was ready for business. That was the main reason why he ventured out to the young blond standing a bit away from the crowd. He had the body of a flyer, he noticed.

He also looked a bit lost, and to be honest, Julius had never been seen the reason to deny himself some fun. Not that he'd do anything in a place like this, but setting things up for future games could be rewarding, should the boy have interest in such directions.

He didn't walk straight up to the other man, but to the side, as if he was admiring the view, wrapped in his fur line cashmere coat with the cup of hot cider in his hand. "Oh hello," he said after a while, as if he'd just seen the young man. "You re admiring the view too, I see," he said, turning to face him, watching him. He looked familiar, but he could not place him, which meant he was definitely beneath him. Then again almost everyone was and it had never stopped him having fun. Why would it? He was Julius Rosier, he took what he wanted when he wanted.

"Have I seen you somewhere before?" he asked innocently. "Eros perhaps?"

Louis turned at the voice, and saw the unfamiliar man standing there. The handsome, well-dressed, unfamiliar man. Louis immediately found himself envying the cashmere. It was beautiful and looked terribly soft.

"Hello," he said, a smile lighting on his lips before he mentioned Eros, and then the brightness fell a little. But Louis could only hope that it was an innocent inquiry and not some innuendo that he had seen him at Eros - or rather, seen the way he'd been behaving at Eros.

"You may have," he admitted.

Now that was interesting, Julius thought. There was a smile, the roam of the eyes, and then the falter of the smile at the mention of Eros before the admittance. What it meant he wasn't sure, but he did think it was a good thing. A closet gay perhaps? Not willing to let it be known.

"You're a regular there, or just the occasional visitor?" he asked, wondering if this was worth playing with or not.

"I'm Julius, by the way" he introduced himself, removing his glove and extending his hand. "And you?"

"Oh, I'm just... new," Louis said, and the smile reached his eyes again. He took Julius' hand, finding it much warmer than his own in the cool air. Louis had only been thinking a few moments ago that he wished he'd brought gloves.

"I'm Louis," he said. "It's a pleasure to meet you." The warm touch actually made him a bit reluctant to release Julius' hand, but he did anyway.

New? So someone not fully out of the closet yet. Perfect. That way he could be sure things would stay private. Of course, spells worked even better, but that was a later issue, all depending on how this ended up.

He smiled, letting the touch between their hands linger just a tad too long. "The pleasure is all mine." Or it would be, he would make sure of it. Putting his glove back on he watched the young man, this was hardly a place to talk, seeing how he couldn't actually do anything. Eros would have offered more freedom, even if he never truly let go there either.

"Are you here alone?" he innocently asked, looking around. "Or do you have someone to share this with?"

"Just my family," said Louis, warmth settling into his expression. He found himself wondering... was it an innocent question, or was Julius really trying to ascertain whether he was, well, unattached? It wasn't often that handsome, well-dressed men casually asked him about Eros and whether he was sharing his night with someone. Underneath the lovely Christmas lights, Louis actually could not help to think that this seemed like a terribly romantic first encounter, if that were the way of it.

Or maybe it was just wishful thinking.

"And yourself?" he asked. "Are you here... with anyone?"

Unattached, as he'd assumed. Julius smiled, keeping eye contact with Louis at the question. "No," he said, pressing on the word a bit more than was necessary. He took a sip of his cider, but his eyes never left Louis'. Something told him this could be a very fun game indeed, he seemed so... untouched and innocent.

He had always liked new toys, not touched by others yet. He licked his lips of the cider before he smiled. "I'm glad I ran into you," he said.

He hadn't asked him what he did for a living, or who his family was, or what he liked - he wasn't interested in any of those things. What he was interested in was getting Louis to agree to meet him somewhere else in private, where he could really play with him. Here was not the time or place, with so many people around.

"Do you like to fly, Louis?" he asked.

I'm glad I ran into you. Louis was pretty sure he wasn't imagining things at this point, and he looked pleased by the statement. So this was what it was like to do something normal, to just flirt with a man, innocent and uncomplicated and out in the open. Louis found that he liked it very much, as simple as it was.

"I'm glad that you ran into me too," he said, and smiled. And then added, "And I adore flying. It was kind of my job for a while, actually. I worked with dragons. But now... I just like the way it feels."

"Dragons?" He was almost sorry he'd asked the moment he had but he didn't let that show. Instead he smiled, stepping a fraction closer, though not so close that it was in any way anything other than normal. "You'll have to tell me about it sometime," he added, stopping Louis before he'd had a chance to begin.

He smiled. "Flying can feel very good," he said, innuendo in every word, of course. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a card with his address in Dorinta. There was only his first name and the address, which was really all you needed to know, and more importantly all he had any intention of sharing.

"I have business to attend to tonight, unfortunately, as well as a business trip coming up. Next week, Thursday at seven, go there. We can go flying together." It wasn't a question, Julius Rosier didn't ask and he had no intention of flying. But Louis had to be very innocent to believe there would be any flying done.

Louis took the card from him, almost wishing that Julius hadn't replaced the glove so that he could feel the warmth of his skin again.

"Thursday," he repeated, looking down at it, and then back up at Julius. "All right," he said. "I'd like that."

The innuendo did not go unnoticed, of course; but wasn't that what flirting was all about? Julius seemed nice enough, though, and Louis was certainly not averse to some innuendo. After all, in theory he was still taking measures to lose his virginity. Accepting a date with a polite, handsome stranger seemed like a good step.

This was almost too easy, but then the innocence of the young man was what he found interesting. He hadn't had an innocent toy for a while, the women and men in the states were naive in their own way but sexually they were mostly easy, and the only one he'd been with since his return to the country was that slut he'd run into outside the shop.

Kathy? Katie? Kelly? K-something. He had it written down so that he wouldn't need to remember, in case he needed a quick relief sometime. It could be handy when he was too busy to make an effort.

With Louis, however, he had a feeling there was going to be more games involved before getting his way and though effortless sex was all right, games had much more interest. He'd have Louis eating out of his hand, begging to be used and coming back for more even when he knew it was bad for him. He wouldn't be able to stay away.

"I'll see you Thursday," he said with a smile. "Be on time."

With those words, he parted, once more mingling in the crowd, talking business and pleasure depending on who he spoke to.
