RP: Rose and Bryn
Who: Rose and Bryn, brief encounter with members of the band
Where: Leaky Cauldron
When: December 3, 2025, evening
Summary: Rose goes to see the band play and talk with her husband

When she passed through the Leaky the day before, Rose had noticed a flyer about the band playing in the window. She decided right away she wanted to go; she never got a chance to really hear them play. Plus, it meant she would see Bryn, whom she missed very much. Arriving about 15 minutes before they were to go on, she found an empty table for two and sat.

When the band announced that they would be taking a break, Rose had a small hesitation before standing to cross over to where the band went for a breather. As soon as she was close enough to touch Bryn, she reached out and tapped his shoulder. "Hi," she said. Without thought, she stood up on her tiptoed and kissed his cheek lightly.

For some reason, she felt her cheeks flush. Such an innocent act and Rose still blushed. Turning to rest, she gave a small wave. "You were brilliant," she said before returning her attention back to Bryn. "You were amazing. Do you have a minute to talk?"

There was absolutely nothing thst could compare to playing with the band in front of an appreciative audience. He got such a natural high from performing that he couldn't help but enjoy it. they were sounding fantastic and he only hoped that the music bods that had come to watch would agree. He and Tilly were playing like they always had, the bass and guitar mixing perfectly. It would seem they were alright after their little drunken mishap.

Grabbing a drink in the short break they allowed themselves, Bryn stood off to one side with the band. He hadn't really noticed anyone in the crowd, once he was playing it was all about the music. Feeling a tap on his shoulder, he turned, surprised to see Rose stood before him. As she kissed his cheek he smiled. 'Hi!' He hadn't expected her to be out and about socializing but then again maybe it was partof her therapy?

'Thanks,' he glanced at Ben, asking silently to be excused for a moment or two. 'Of course.'

Hearing his voice and seeing him smile made Rose glad of her decision to go out and see him that night. It felt like ages since they last spoke when in reality it had only been three weeks. The last time they had gone this long without talking or owling or seeing one another, Bryn had been kidnapped.

"I mean it. I can see how talented you are and how much you love doing it," she replied. When Bryn excused them, she gave another way and moved away with by her side. Once they were alone, she took a moment to look at him, remember they had met here.

She couldn't stop herself. "It's so good to see you," she said, smiling and blushing at the same time. "How are you? And work?"

'Well, we're getting there.' Bryn grinned, he just couldn't help his enthusiasm when it came to the band. Slipping into the seat opposite Rose, he leaned his elbows on the table, sipping at his drink.

'It's good to see you too. I didn't think you'd be out an about so soon.' Bryn frowned slightly, he really didn't know how soon Rose should or shouldn't have been out socialising. 'I'm okay. Work is good.' He paused momentarily. 'How are you?'

"It's only a matter of time," she agreed, smiling back at him. She took the seat she sat in during the show while Bryn took the one opposite of her.

She was still sad a lot, but felt like she was on the right track. "Making progress," she replied. "It's slow and some days are better than others." Yesterday had been a surprisingly good day and today wasn't bad either. Hopefully, things will continue the way they had been.

"I miss you," she blurted out. You promised not to rush this time! she chided herself in her head. "I walked passed the ice skating rink we went to last year after therapy today which made me wonder if you'd like to go again some time."

Progress. Progress was good. Bryn was happy for her. At least she had been able to focus on herself like she wanted. He felt strange, sitting there talking to her. It was like meeting her for the first time all over again. He'd come to realise over their time apart that they really didn't know each other. Everything between them had happened too fast. It was probably mostly his fault. He was scared of women after his run in with Natasha, but Rose made him feel safe and he'd hung on to that. Perhaps wrongly so.

'I miss you too.' He replied, it was true, he did miss her. But he missed the old Rose the most. As she mentioned skating he frowned slightly. 'I'm not sure. Things could get busy pretty quickly if we impress the right people tonight.' He took another sip of his drink. 'I don't want you to rush yourself. But maybe some time.'

He glanced round the room briefly, wondering how to phrase his next question. In the end he found the most straightforward to be the best. 'Rose, have you told anyone we're separated? Only I got invited to your Uncle Charlie's birthday. The funeral and housewarming too.' He finished his drink. 'I didn't go to either because I was respecting your decision to move out, to be away from me to focus on yourself. Its a little awkward knowing I'm essentially blanking your family without them knowing the reason.'

While Rose was happy that he missed her, she didn't like the fact they had to be apart. The impulse to invite him to skating was just that; an impulse. It was also her subtle way of letting him know that she wanted to see him more. "You will impress them, I'm sure," she said. The rest of his answer made her frown. "I wouldn't ask if I wasn't ready. I just want see you." Unless I'm rushing you...

His next question caught her completely off guard. "Just Uncle Bill. I didn't think we were officially separated. I just moved home so I could get better faster," she said, frowning more and glancing down at her hands. She looked up again. "I never asked you to blank on my family. If you want to come to Uncle Charlie's party, you should go. As for the other events, I'm sorry." It would have been nice if you had been at Lily's funeral...

Her last word came out as a whispered. "I didn't mean to make things difficult for you. I didn't think we had decided on anything yet, so I didn't say anything. I never wanted to move back home; I just felt like I needed to for a little while and if I gave you the impression that I didn't want to see you or that you were no longer invited to things because we are having problems, I am truly sorry."

Bryn shook his head; she didn't think they were officially separated. That was obvious surely. They weren't together, therefore they were apart. 'Rose, I told Ben and Jazz. I moved in with Jazz for a while...' He looked down at the tabletop. 'we don't know how long this is going to take, for you to get better.'

Biting his lower lip, he glanced round the room again. 'I think... we should just wait for you to be alright again and then rethink us. We barely know each other really, everything happened so fast. I mean, that's my fault really. I shouldn't have proposed. We should have spent more time as friends first.'

Running his hands through his hair he finally brought his gaze to meet hers. 'Just focus on yourself and please, tell your family. Let them be mad at me for the real reason they should be. Not just because of a few missed engagements.'

Things were going far out of control. All she wanted was to see him and here he was saying he shouldn't have proposed and that things went too fast. Is he basically saying he doesn't love me? The room spun and she felt as if the walls were beginning to close in. She closed her eyes for a moment as she took a deep breath trying not to burst into tears or panic.

"Avoiding one another will not make it easier to get to know each other," Rose said. "If you would like to spent time as just friends, I would be open to that."

Watching him avoid her eyes and looking around just made her feel like all the progress she made had been a waste. What is the point of getting better if there was no one around to be there for you? "I will let my family know that we're taking time apart."

Rose took a shaking breath and stood; she had to get out of there. "You have another set and I don't want to distract you," she said. Again, she leaned over to kiss his cheek, but she stopped. In a whisper, she said, "Good luck. Please don't give up on us yet. It's not your fault; it was mine. I didn't mean to rush you."

In the end, she did kiss his cheek before she left the pub, praying her entire world hadn't just crumbled under her feet.
