Micheal, Wren
He kept Hugo's eyes, and for once didn't rise to the punk's bait. As much as it galled him, if something happened to him, she would need Hugo, so he let her go, watching the time. He'd go find her if she was gone too long, they were going to spend the night being 'normal', as much as possible.
His parents were hopefully safe and if the worst happened would take care of her and keep Wren out of Allegra's hands. For the first time he acknowledged the fact that he wished he hadn't given in to her sudden request after Wren's birth to have visitation.
He'd explain where'd she go in an emergency, this time no philosphical discussion as that would only lead her down a worrisome and tearful path. But the tears were already there and he could hex the boy for making her cry at this time.
"Shhh, love, it's going to be okay." Leading her to their rooms, he outlined the book they'd read, or re-read together, painting a picture that would hopefully, if she was willing to go along with it, take them back to the lakehouse and a time of no fears or worries.
