She wasn't slow or daft, not by a long shot, but she couldn't seem to get past the fighting, her Dad fighting. Logically, Wren knew this day would come, they couldn't stay behind these walls forever, and this was right, but she really didn't want her Dad to fight, he was her whole world, as selfish as that might be.
Well, not her whole world, the other half was beside her. Nodding she squeezed her Dad's had and knew he'd wait for her so they could talk through it, the fears, the plans, the contingencies, not that any of that would make her feel better this time.
"I know." She didn't, but for once she was going to hope that not voicing the obvious would keep it from coming true. "And you'll be with me right?"
