RP: Kat, Walden, Cassandra, Lex
Who: Kat, Walden, Cassandra, Lex
Where: Macnair residence
When: September 9
Summary: Cassandra and Lex comes for dinner
Walden had left no specifications on how he wanted the evening, which wasn't much of a surprise in itself given that he was a man. He had however said to make it perfect, which worried her more since she could bet that no matter what she did he'd find something not right so that he'd have an excuse for his perversions later. It wasn't as if he had any class, after all. He wouldn't know perfect if it stared him in the face.
Which it had tonight. Less for Walden's benefit and more for Cassandra and Alexander Higgs. Katherine had made sure the evening left nothing to be desired. The dining room (though hideously small) had been tastefully decorated as was the sitting room they were in now. Katherine had had her parents house elf arrange for all the details her own elf refused to help with: table cloths, napkins, china, vases, flowers... in short, everything. All the things that the house needed to be perfect, or as perfect as such a small house could be. Food seemed to be the one thing the elf actually helped her with, and she'd made sure it was ordered with Cassandra's palate in mind. Only the finest ingredients, French in origin save for the pudding. She was quite sure that Walden didn't have the palate to appreciate anything that didn't involve beef though, so she had gone for a Boeuf Bourguignon rather than the preferred Coq au vin. She'd also made sure there were potatoes as well as the vegetables. Walden was so crude it was embarrassing, but there was nothing to be done about it.
The rest of the courses had been desided with the main course in mind, to make sure the tastes went well together. The wine ordered very specifically to match the different courses. After dinner, Kat was sure there was nothing left to be desired, as they moved into the sitting room for coffee or tea according to preference. She sat with a pleasant smile on her face, pretending she didn't wish desperately to be alone with Cassandra, to talk to her, really talk. It wasn't an option, however, she knew that, and her parents' elf had confirmed what she'd suspected but hadn't been able to know. When not busy with preparing food, Walden's elf was invisibly in the room with her, watching her. Bloody spying useless creature. She'd have to learn to get around that. She couldn't think of that tonight though, tonight was about playing the perfect hostess, and hoping Walden would let her keep in contact with Cassandra.
