Entry tags:*complete, 2025 08, character: ted lupin, character: victoire lupin

RP: Ted and Victoire
Who: Ted and Victoire
Where: Their rooms
When: Evening, 25 August 2025
Summary: Ted and Victoire chat.

Ted sighed as sat down on the couch, eyes closed. He was tired, bone achingly tired, but knew better than to complain about it. Harry and Ginny's death weighed heavily on his mind, as well as the events of his wedding. Perhaps he should not have extended an invitation to Scorpius, but the metamorphmagus was not going to feel bad about it. It was his (Victoire's) wedding.

Hearing his wife move about, he cracked an eye open, smiling as spotted her.

"Hey."

When his head turned, she leaned in and kissed him softly, brushing her fingers over his face. "I love you," she said simply. He was such a good man, had really been his whole life.

"There was a much better time, but after that storming out, even taking Sirius with him," she shook her head. Having to defend her guest list, which should have been a given, was stressful enough. At least she didn't have to justify that to Teddy. "It shows a complete lack of class to do that at a wedding. I didn't plan that list around him, and I was not going to."

Her hand tightened in his and she kissed him again. "You are right. He would give not even that much. The Potters and Weasleys were more family than the Malfoys ever were. They have never treated us as family, and they kicked your grandmother out, just like they did their own son, but now we are suppose to embrace them? Really?"

"I'm glad your father was there but he should have spent it with you, and nothing else should have kept him from it. That's how I can imagine it when our baby gets married." She teased his face again, feeling bad about it, only because Teddy had been hurt.

"I love you too." Ted ran a hand through he hair, hardly able to believe that they were in fact married.

"Don't say that." Ted shook his head. "Regulus had his reasons and while we may not agree with them, they were his. It's hardly his fault I don't see myself as a Black." After all, what incentive did he have growing up? "Although I wish we could have avoided this, like you said you had no reason to plan the list around him."

The whole issue with his grandmother was still a sore point. "They never had a reason to treat me like family before," he pointed out. "And the only reason they do it now is because it's politically favorable." The whole concept as family as politics was foreign to him.

Ted blanched when Vic teased about their child. "Baby?" he asked, eyes flicking down to her stomach before raising to meet hers. "You're not...?" He let the question hang in the air. He could hardly imagine being a father at a time like this, but then again, he could have hardly imagined being married, but so far so good.

"Whatever they were, it was still not appropriate behavior for a wedding and didn't show much respect for your father in my opinion. If you took me somewhere, with people I didn't agree with, but I knew it meant a lot to you, I would have stayed and smiled - for you." She would have too, and she had really thought that Regulus would have done the same thing for Remus. Then again, she also thought Remus would have stayed for his son if nothing else, but she didn't suppose there was much of a bond there. Harry had more of a hand in raising Ted.

"I decided not to play politics with our wedding. I don't care if they don't agree. I just wanted it to be happy with people who wished us well. Not smiled and shook our hands while mumbling about blood traitors behind our backs. I feel bad for Scorpius in with that lot. He was always nice to our family, and he meant it. I wish he would have known your Grandmum better."

She leaned back against him and looked up. She liked his hand on her stomach. "No, not yet," she sighed, "but once this war is done, I don't want to wait any more. I have always wanted a family with you."

Ted shook his head and shrugged. He didn't have a defense for their actions and he doubted he needed to be the one defending them anyhow. "My grandmother would have liked him, I think." She probably would have fussed over him and at least known what Scorpius was going through. "Though I think it's unfair to have asked the Malfoys to help. I doubt my grandmother would have wanted their help anyway."

"Once the war is done," he murmured in her ear as he pressed a kiss to her cheek. "After that I don't think there's reason to wait."

"I wish she would have been at the wedding. We were missing so many." She snuggled closer to him. It was still hard to refer to her mother as deceased, even if it is what she meant. She would have loved to have her grandmother there as well. Molly Weasley had always done well. "We should send Aunt Hermione something nice. She really did a nice job."

Although her husband didn't seem too upset by the family issue, she did want to be sure, because what he wanted did matter to her. "As far as the Blacks are concerned, what do you want to do? I don't plan on being rude to them or anything, but I don't see myself falling all over myself for them, suddenly deciding that we should all be family. If that is what you want, we can but - ." She left the words lingering in the air. She could just imagine inviting Astoria Malfoy for tea. He tried to hold back a laugh.

"And when we get out of here, no more potions. I would say now is good, but I don't want to get caught in a battle and hurt the baby."

"There were many who should have been at the wedding, but weren't." Too many to name without depressing them all, but they were lucky enough to have those that were. Ted just had to remember that.

"Hermione deserves the moon or something equally as grand. Two weddings in two weeks." He shook his head. Neither of which should have been her responsibility.

Ted paused at the next question. Was he a Black? The question confounded him to some degree. There was no denying his grandmother had been one, and she had helped raise him, but Harry had just as big and influence. Perhaps a negative one if you asked the right person, but an influence none the less.

"Honestly? Before people started to come back I had never thought of myself as a member of the Black family so it confounds me that some people would include me now." He shrugged. Like he said before, it seemed like the only reason Regulus bothered to talk to him was because of his father, which was odd as the familial connection came from his maternal line. "I'd rather not associate myself with the Malfoys if at all possible," he said finally.

"No, no baby until this war is finished." Ted's eyes grew dark. He would not do to his own child what his parents had done to him. He wanted to be there for his child, see the first steps and hear the first words.

"The meaning of family are the ones who love us, not just call us family by some drops of blood. Look at who did raise you, and they don't share blood, but a good heart. Maybe that's the idealist in me, all that Weasley blood." She laughed a little and turned, laying down with her head in her lap and his hand still in hers.

"Really it is the only reason he bothered, and the fact that you have some distant drop of Black blood, thanks to your Grandmother who was erased from the tree. I find it odd that they are claiming that you are suddenly family with the Malfoys when they don't consider their own son family and he has more blood than anyone. I swear, I could never ever do that to our child. It hurts to even think about it. I'm glad Scorpius was at the wedding. He seems happy." She always wanted everyone to be happy. That was part of being the princess and having the fairy tale. She didn't want politics. Logic and dreams didn't get along often.

"When we walk out of here, that is the first thing we do," she agreed easily. "I can even make a potion to enhance fertility. You will be an amazing daddy."

Ted laughed and nodded, starting to stroke a hand through her hair. He was happy they came from the same viewpoint, at least on this. He knew marriage would not always be so easy.

"I'd rather not talk about it, honestly." Family was a touchy subject for him. His grandmother never said anything specifically, but he could remember how it affected her when Narcissa Malfoy became Minister.

"Daddy," he murmured, the mere thought stunning him. "I don't know if I'm ready for children quite yet."

"You will be ready when it is time," she smiled, "and I will be so happy to do that with you." She was already convinced that they needed to have a child. That would be a focus once the war is over and they got to rebuild their lives.

She giggled again. "Do you think my father is ready to be called Grandpa? I think he might panic at first. Your father especially since he is younger."

Her fingers laced through his again and she looked up, adoring her husband. "What are your thoughts on building a house for our family once we can leave this castle?"
