RP: Remus and Hermione
Who: Remus Lupin and Hermione Granger
Where: Hogwarts, Hermione's Office
When: Tuesday, 21 August, 2025, late morning
Summary: Remus just has a quick request.
Over the last couple days since Harry's death, Remus had begun to find that sort of numb mindset he'd discovered in the later years of the first war. At least, when he was outside, away from the comfort of their rooms. Even during the time Regulus wasn't in them, those rooms had become the closest thing he had to home and safe space while they were stuck here and unable to go back to the house that had come to be home in his mind after just a small bit of time spent there. In their rooms, that numbness thawed and he was able to feel again.
But, out here, he felt a coldness that had nothing to do with the rain outside.
And, 'here' was the corridor leading to Hermione's office. Moody had given security advanced warning the day before. The castle's population was being moved. All operational procedures were changing. They would start new patrols and new training routines. What he didn't say, but what anyone who knew anything about such matters could guess, was this was all because of Harry's death and Emmeline's capture. There was no telling how much information the enemy had gotten from either.
Of course, the wrench in all this was it was all set to happen on Wednesday. The day after the Full Moon. When good fifteen to twenty percent of their remaining security force would be recovering. And the new aerial training was his and Dominique's, both of whom would be sore and exhausted. Remus was already planning to tell Dominique to take the next day off and take the sessions on his own. He had more experience in forcing himself out of bed and getting his body to work.
But, he couldn't do that if he had to worry about moving.
And that was what brought him up to see Hermione while Regulus was dealing with other things. Knocking briefly on the door, he poked his head inside, hoping Ted wasn't there as well. He didn't think he could deal with the necessary conversation that would result from seeing his son just then. "Hermione? Do you have a moment? I wanted to talk to you about the new room assignments, if I may?"
