RP: Regulus Who: Regulus Where: Hogwarts When: 23 March, 2025 Rating/Warnings: Summary: It's been a few long days
Regulus was finally discovering why his father liked to work so much, especially when his mother was in a mood. Work was neutral, work was a valid reason to avoid the person and work kept you busy so you didn't have to think about the other person.
It had started with the argument on Sunday morning, and then Severus had asked if they were going to work together on this. Maybe if Remus had been waiting for him, the answer would have been different, but Remus wasn't anywhere to be found and there was no way Regulus was going to look for him. He was Regulus Black and he was not going to beg Remus to come back for... he still hadn't figured out why he was supposed to be sorry. Because he hated the Potters? Because he found the irony of Lily Potter marrying Rabastan Lestrange delicious? Because Remus spent every bloody Sunday morning with Potter? Because when he did make plans on such Sunday, suddenly it was his fault that they couldn't spend the day together? Because one way or another, a Potter had always ruined his life?
He wasn't sorry at all. In fact, he wanted that entire family to die. Okay, maybe they could save James, but that's only because he was a Black now.
Regardless of their unfortunate survival, he wasn't about to apologise for something that wasn't his fault, and if Remus had better things to do elsewhere, then so did he, which meant he accepted the offer of working with Severus, easily spending the Sunday with him, and if he stayed there longer than he would have expected, it was in the name of research. After all, it wasn't every day that you got to play with such evolved application of the Dark Arts.
Monday brought classes and annoying students who managed to get more detentions in one day than the rest of the his weeks as professor combined. At this rate, Smith wouldn't need to clean for the rest of the year. After classes, he found Severus again, because the Dark Mark was important and if they could find a way to use it, it would put a serious dent in the Dark Lord's plan. What if Severus made him smile with his sarcastic comments? There was no rule that said that he had to stay in his room alone just because of one argument. This was much more productive and entertaining as well.
Tuesday started with more classes and more detention. Really, Smith would have people cleaning even next year if his students didn't learn to do as they were told and not complain. Finally, though classes ended, and he had to decide what to do next. Probably stop to his rooms, and then he could find Severus again.
