RP: Filius' Funeral
Who: Open to all
Where: Hogwarts grounds
When: July 3, 2024 - Late morning (service), early afternoon (wake)
Rating: PG-R, depending on language
Summary: The wizarding world mourns the passing of the Headmaster - or in some cases, pretends to
Status: Closed, completed
The announcement had been in the Prophet, instructions provided on how to arrive and where the safe apparation points were outside of the grounds. The grounds themselves had been cleaned up and made accessible for the expected crowd of witches and wizards that would be in attendance.
Rows upon rows of chairs had been set up, facing the dias that would become the headmaster's tomb, and all of the spells and tributes had been laid out, planned in depth, and set up to go off on the appropriate cues.
The wizard who would be officiating had arrived and was receiving last minute updates as the people began to arrive.
The day was dark, gloomy, and threatening rain - and occasionally delivering on that promise, so the word went out that the gathering after the funeral itself would be held within the Great Hall rather than forcing people to remain on the grounds.
Once everyone had arrived, the wizard began to speak, telling the story of Filius Flitwick as he moved through the wizarding world to end his journey at Hogwarts. Halfway through the speech, raindrops gave in to gravity and plunged toward the Earth, but still he spoke on, never minding the umbrellas and the uncomfortable shifting on the ones who hadn't thought to bring umbrellas.
When he'd finished, and the tributes had run their course, the dias shifted and altered itself into a smaller version of the tomb Albus Dumbledore had been buried in. Only when that transformation had completed did the wizard begin to lead the mourners to the castle.
