Remus laughed warmly at that! He didn't know the kind of man Bill Weasley had grown up to be. But, he didn't have to in order to understand a father's reaction to the boy wanting to date his daughter.
"Well," he said, laughter still vibrating in his voice, "I have it on good authority -- although I forget exactly whose authority it was at the time, James' or Lily's -- that mothers are the ones toughest on the women their sons date and fathers on the men their daughters date. So, you should be safe."
It was remarkably easy to talk to Ted, despite the shyness and awkwardness Remus felt over certain topics -- like his unreasoning protective instincts for a grown man long past needing that sort of protection from the father who'd never been there. Odd as it seemed, it was just about as easy as talking to James and Sirius in the old days, which was probably why, as he finished his tea and set the cup aside, Remus found himself voicing an offer of his own.
"Now, I know if I was in your shoes, I'd have a list of questions I'd always wondered about and was dying to ask now that I had the chance. So, ask me anything, anything at all, and I'll see if I can't answer a few for you, if you'd like."
