He hadn’t even had time to sit down at his desk when the orders appeared at his desk. Reading them he sighed, having a feeling it would be a long day. He wondered for a second what working with his son would be like, if Dylan would be able to listen to his orders when on the job. He shook the thought off. His son had the makings of a good Auror, those who had worked with his training had told him as much. Hell Harry himself had told him.

He didn’t bother to sit down now, knowing there was no time to waist. Instead he just grabbed what he needed and stuffed it in his pockets before looking up at the others. “Ready?” he asked, then headed for the door.

They arrived at the scene a short while later, the Aurors greeting them looking as bothered as they were tired. “We could stay,” one of them said, glancing towards the house even as he tried to stifle a yawn. “We’ve spoken to the guy who reported it,” the other said. The one missing, it’s a ten year old girl.”

“We could stay,” the first repeated. “If you need us, sir.”

Cass shook his head, knowing that as much as this scene obviously had got to them, they were too tired to be of any help. They’d been on the night shift, and needed their sleep. “We can handle it,” he said, thanking them and sending them off before leading the group towards the house and the crime scene.

He'd realised he should probably have a better grip on who was Animagus in the department than he had when he saw her transform, but didn't waste any longer time thinking about it. Transforming, he sniffed the air, then set off downstream next to the river.

He moved fast, checking both sides of the river as he ran, trying to find some sign of the werewolves. After five minutes, however, he'd found nothing, and a sneaking suspicion settled on him. He halted, examining the area closer then turned to run back, hoping Eva had been able to cover a larger area.

When Eva returned, there was a scrap of dark coloured material in her beak which she found in a clearing by the water. As she transformed, the material was in her hands which she put in a phial from her evidence kit. Hopefully her method of collection wouldn't contaminate it completely.

"I found a clearing, with footprints and this," she informed Dylan, holding up the sample. "You?"

"Nothing," replied Dylan trying to keep the blush off his cheeks. "I can't go as far as you transformed though," he hastened to add.

"Do you think there is more? We could let Cass know and then Apparate to the clearing and search for evidence there." Just then they both heard the footsteps of Cass as he arrived. "Did you find the girl?" he asked.

Dylan shook his head. "Only traces." Cass nodded. "The examiners are going in to fetch the bodies as we speak, do you want to take a look?" he asked, Dylan hesitated, then nodded. "We found traces in a clearing though," he said not sure where to go.

"Go inside, I'm sure Eva can handle the clearing, I'll have someone else help her," answered Cass, looking at Eva. Dylan looked too, then back at the house before setting off towards the real scene of the crime. Even if he'd felt sick before he wanted to see it, in some weird sick way, though he couldn't help to be glad that the bodies would be covered up and then moved.
