"Coming!" Eric shouted, hoping that his voice carried well enough from his bedroom to stop the loud and strangely bouncy assault on the door to his flat. He glanced at his reflection in the mirror. He wasn't sure how to dress for a beginner ballet class, even if he was just going to be on the sidelines. And he would just be on the sidelines, no mistake - though he was willing to go along and be distracted, ballet was not exactly Eric's idea of fun. It wasn't as bad as opera, but it was still a bit... well, it wasn't his cup of tea. But his cup of tea wasn't helping much these days, so maybe a change was in order.
He had settled on dressing "not-at-work normal," which meant slacks and a button-up shirt. The slacks felt tighter around the waist than usual. Was all this sitting around uselessly making him gain weight? He frowned suddenly, turning briefly to see his profile in the mirror, then shrugged and headed for the door, which was still being rhythmically attacked.
"I said I was coming," he said with a slight smile as he opened the door for Alice. "I guess you couldn't hear it over the knocking, though." |

Sorry for not getting this up until now! I was moving this morning, and then spent a lot of the afternoon helping my new roommate move in. I'm not quite done with the plot, but I'll work on that and get it up tonight.

The Spring Fling Dance is tonight! Enormous plants and flowers line the Great Hall, garlands hang from the ceiling, and the room is filled with a soft, pleasant light. The punch is supposedly made from nectar and ambrosia (whatever that means), with a sweet, citrusy taste and flower petals floating in it.
If you want to talk about what your character did tonight (or thread, I suppose), this is the place. :) Unless you want to thread elsewhere. Your call! |

It wasn't exactly a normal morning at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was Valentine's Day, and that meant deliveries. Also couples acting like couples, even at breakfast, not to mention the occasional couple who had got into a fight at the dance the night before and were now spending breakfast sulking and sneaking glances at their former boyfriend or girlfriend to make sure they were noticing exactly how much they weren't paying attention. And then there were those people who hated Valentine's Day studiously ignoring anything that looked in the least bit Valentiney.
So it wasn't exactly a normal morning, but it was a pretty typical morning. That changed at precisely 8:21am, in the middle of breakfast. Suddenly, with no fanfare at all, a large fraction of the students in the school disappeared.
In the normal world, those professors who were at breakfast started bustling around, talking to each other in low voices and trying to maintain order amongst the shocked students, eventually sending some of their own to track down students in other parts of the castle and delegating prefects to do what they could with keeping order in their houses.
In the empty world, it was just the vanished. |
