    "The Archimedes Codex"
The Archimedes Codex by Reviel Netz and Wiiliam Moel

A fascinating book - it reads like a true-life mystery story, a history & an exploration of mathematics - or more specifically, Archimedes' tremendous influence on maths.  It's a brilliant & engaging read - even if (like myself) maths isn't your strength.  It's simply fascinating.

It's the account of the discovery of a genuine & previously unread (in modern times - there were medieval scholarly references to it) codex written by Archimedes.  Bought by an anonymous enormously wealthy bibliophile for 2 million dollars at an auction, the mysterious book-lover made it available to a curator at a museum, who organized the repair, treatment, digital imaging/reading, translation and scholarly interpretation of the rare tome.

I do hope it's OK to rec a non-fiction here!  My apologies, if not.
