Clark Kent blinked. Cordelia Chase was talking to him. "Why?" Er. "I mean Hi," Clark covered. He glanced around, as if expecting to have gotten it wrong and she was talking to the guy next to him and not actually him. Everyone knew who Cordelia Chase was. She was the It Girl of Sunnydale High. If it wasn't about what Cordelia was wearing, it was about who she was dating, or what she'd spent an absurd amount of money on.
He cleared his throat, slipped his hands in his back pockets, and said, "How's it going?" He tried to remain nonchalant, which was hard, considering Cordelia had never spoken a word to him in all their academic career. Had the converse and the lack of flannel make him look that different? He reached for his soda and took a sip.
"You look nice," he added, knowing that, if all else failed, complimenting her look was probably a great way to soothe the beast that lurked behind Cordelia's hazel eyes.
