Forty minutes before dinner, Zamira and the Headmaster gathered the staff and students into the Great Hall to make an announcement about an impending project. Zamira described in detail what the project would entail--teamwork, patience, and perseverance: students, in groups of two, are to take care of a magical egg until further notice. The purpose of the groups, according to Zamira and the Headmaster, is to create interhouse unity. The eggs seem ordinary enough, despite their moving faces and the fact some of them are screaming and crying. Zamira announced that the project will end sometime in March, and that all students are required to write an entry in their journals on how it impacted them. Then, she pulled out a long piece of pink parchment and began to read off the pairings. The male students were to come up one by one to receive their egg and find their partner. It went as followed: |
