Last week marked an historical first in the Wizarding War - an attack on Hogsmeade proved that the purist side is willing to go that far to make an impact. This next week will deal with the impact of that attack, revelations about DE activities, and the pushing ahead of the purist agenda.
Players are expected to take the initiative and follow leads, strike out on their own, and come up with ideas that will further their respective sides' goals.
Mod availability;
• Em will not be available Wednesday or Thursday for anything but mindless chatter; she has a PChem test on Friday and a large homework set due Thursday.
• Rachel is not available on Monday until late evening (PST) due to schoolwork, nor Friday due to Barry Manilow. Anyone caught laughing at Rachel's musical taste will be shot on sight. (AHAHA)
I. Week in Review [2 Feb - 9 Feb]
If you haven't already; • Update your friends list and AIM list. Not later, right now.
• Introduce yourself in OOC
• Obsessively stalk char holds and applications if you're Chels.
• Certain DEs will receive owls (the flying kind with messages) from Voldemort regarding Diagon Alley;
• Amelia Bones will receive an anonymous tip (see below);
• Edgar Bones's investigations have led him round and round... and then to Knockturn, where the name Garesse Gwythe turns up - a hag who was, it's rumored, the maker of the Hogsmeade bombs. Rory - Edgar's reaction to this information will dictate what will happen next.
III. IC things that are easier to put in one place
Letter to Death Eaters:
My most loyal followers,
I am pleased to report that the success of your efforts in Hogsmeade has reached my ears. Though an unfortunate necessity that I had hoped to avoid, the magistrate's removal is not without its advantages. His untimely death will serve as a warning to he who dares inherit the position, ensuring that our collaboration with his successor will not be hampered by the foolish estimation that our threats are idle. The ensuing panic in the wake of the explosions is also cause for celebration, but to rest for even a moment at such a pivotal time is an invitation to those who would pollute our fair society. We must capitalize on the growing sense of dread that washes over the Wizarding World, and we must do so swiftly.
The realization that the Wizarding World is not safe from our wrath is likely to prompt some of our citizens to reconsider their staunch opposition to our cause. Your next task is to test this theory. The shop owners of Diagon Alley have long proffered their goods to the filth that encroaches upon our world at an increasingly alarming rate, so consumed by greed that they are unconcerned with the tainted nature of the money they receive. No longer. As of your receipt of this owl, these individuals will receive no further mercy or grace if they choose to continue to serve Mudbloods. I have enclosed a list of pertinent shops; I expect each and every one of you to approach a merchant and influence him or her to change their ways. You may do so in the method of your choosing, but you will exercise discretion if you do not wish to meet the fate of those who refuse you. Do not test me.
I will be expecting reports of your progress imminently. For the sake of the Wizarding World and your own well-being, I advise that you not dally in this undertaking.
Lord Voldemort
Letter to Amelia Bones [dictaquill & post owl]:
Dear Ms. Bones,
After the horrible events last week, I have been struggling with myself to come forward and speak to the ministry about the information I have. I am sure you can understand my worries. I don't know who to trust. I'm not even sure I can trust you, though I did see your statement in the Daily Prophet and you've ever so lovely a smile.
I was in the Magistrate's office last week on business and saw an argument between the Magistrate and Rodolphus Lestrange. It could be nothing, but it seems odd that shortly afterward the office was not only attacked but the Magistrate murdered in cold blood.
I don't know if this will prove useful to you, but I hope that some sense can come of this in the end. This whole death eater business gives me the collywobbles.
Yours faithfully,
X

V. Call for volunteers;
Volunteers will be needed to play store owners - unless a DE player prefers to log on his or her own. Rachel and Em can provide some NPCs, but it would be grand if we can all work together to make this plot happen. Please comment if you'd like to volunteer and we will list your names. DEs are responsible for approaching volunteers to organize your store scenes.
