The hedge directly to Marlene's left went up in flames for an immediate instant before seeming to vaporize, bits of ash and bark and leaf showering the spell-charred ground, the brick wall behind it burnt and cracked by the hex. Marlene let out a short scream after the spell's initial contact, which she immediately stifled and silently cursed herself for yelling out like that. True, any screaming she might have done was likely lost in the sound of the blast, but that was not the point.
Knowing that this probably wasn't the best place to continue hiding, (considering that had she been squatting down three feet closer to the building's door, that hedge would have been her,) Marlene peeked around the... well, the new side of the bushes, seeing as how it was right there to see if either of the Incarcerous spells had hit. Whether it had or not, the Death Eater was up and hexing things again, which wasn't what Marlene wanted to see. If he wasn't going to stay still long enough for any binding curse to work, maybe it would prove effective to go at things the other way. Marlene aimed a jelly-legs curse at the Death Eater, and without waiting to see if it made contact, booked it from out behind the hedges to hide behind the wall of the building.
