"Wouldn't it?" said Veronica, her eyebrows going up high and a bright smile breaking out over her face. She almost skipped as she moved to join him at the door and then remembered herself and graciously led him to the sitting room, where the piano was already prepared, and a fresh vase of flowers displayed nearby.
She gave Aquila a shy smile as she positioned herself at the piano, making certain that he had plenty of room. Veronica carefully made sure that the music was laid out properly, and played a few random notes as she prepared herself.
"I'm not nearly as good at this as you are," she whispered conspiratorially, as though she were afraid her mother would catch her letting on such a thing. But she said it with a hint of a smile. "But I trust that you can teach me to be better, and not shame me for my shortcomings." Her cheeks bloomed a little as she said the words she had considered all morning. Veronica might not have any experience flirting, but she did think that she ought to at least be charming when she spoke to him.
