Brin/Maddie
Maybe it was just because she had become desensitized to being picked on by her cousins by this stage in her life, but Maddie barely even thought about how really mean Elyza could be. It was just how she was, Maddie knew that it wouldn't change until she stood up for herself (according to her mother the key was to 'knock their head' when it was Hunter's kids) which was never going to happen, so she had just kind of.. gotten used to it.
She was a doormat, everyone walked all over her, why would Elyza be any different? Maddie was an easy target for people like Elyza and her friends.
It sucked, but it was what it was and she had resigned herself to that. She didn't even really think about getting angry anymore. But she could tell that Brin was getting angry, it was coming off the other girl in waves and Maddie couldn't help but shift a little uncomfortably. She hated confrontation, maybe that was really why she never stood up to Elyza. She was afraid to, even though she had always been bigger.
"It's n-not a big deal," She insisted, managing a little smile for Brin. "Seriously, b-babe.. I'm used to it, l-like.. I don't know. S-She really, really is dog shit, though.." Maddie sighed. She snuggled up closer to Brin, scooting down so that she could actually rest her head closer to her girlfriend's shoulder. She absently tickled her fingers on her free hand, down along Brin's arm, trying to calm her down a little. "I don't know w-what her problem is, I've n-never done anything to her.."
She hesitated when Brin actually asked what Elyza had said, because she knew that it was only going to piss Brin off more, but she also knew that she didn't want to lie to her girlfriend. "Well.." She began slowly, still hesitant, but smiling weakly as Brin rubbed the back of her hand. "Just the usual b-bullshit.. retard, Big Bird, Porky Pig, Big Red.. her f-friends laughed. She w-was just talking shit, b-being an asshole.. you know, b-being a typical shit lord."
Maddie chewed her lower lip a little, unsure how Brin was going to react, but hoping that she wouldn't get too ticked. "It's really n-not a big deal, babe.. she's b-been an asshole to me like, my w-whole life. Like, literally f-forever. It's not t-the end of the world.."
